Teresa Giudice's husband Luis Ruelas loaned $1M after buying mansion (2024)

Luis Ruelas, the husband of The Real Housewives of New Jersey's Teresa Giudice, took out a $1 million loan three months ago, less than four years after they bought a mansion in Montville, New Jersey for $3,350,000.

Ruelas, 49, took out a $1 million loan this past March 25 from an LLC based out of Florida, according to court documents reviewed by The U.S. Sun.

Documents detailing the mortgage reviewed by the outlet indicated that Ruelas was the 'sole member' of an LLC that purchased the seven-bedroom, 10-bathroom home in January of 2021. The timeframe of the loan was not made clear in the paperwork.

The apparent financial issues come a decade after Giudice, 52, pleaded guilty to tax fraud in March of 2014, leading to her serving more than 11 months in prison in 2015.

In that case, Teresa's ex-husband Joe Giudice, 52, served more than three years in prison, with authorities looking to deport him over the conviction after his sentence.

Teresa and Ruelas initially crossed paths in 2020 and exchanged vows in August of 2022 in East Brunswick, New Jersey.

Ruelas' past business ventures include partially founding the company Digital Media Solutions and working as an 'independent contractor' on the livestreaming app Vinivia, according to The U.S. Sun.

Ruelas is currently involved in $5 million litigation with an attorney named Kevin S. Johnson and his Johnson Litigation Group firm, the outlet reported.

Ruelas filed the lawsuit earlier this year in New York, saying that he 'suffered economic injury' and missed out on 'multiple business opportunities' as result of Johnson's communications 'under fake names/personas' in an effective effort to hurt his reputation.

Ruelas said Johnson sent emails in an effort to hinder his 'chances in the court of law, stir controversy, and create reality TV content,' which left his reputation 'damaged beyond repair.'

Some of Ruelas' issues have been a topic on the latest season of the reality series.

A preview for the show's 14th season showed the cast's Margaret Josephs, 57, saying that Ruelas 'pissed [Teresa's] money away' which Teresa denied in a subsequent appearance on Tori Spelling's podcast misSPELLING last month.

On the podcast, Teresa said Josephs was out of the loop when it comes to her finances, and was trying to bait her in an effort to get more screen time.

'Margaret says my husband spends all my money - like, b***h, you don't even know what you're talking about,' Teresa said. 'She's not even in my house. She's putting out this false narrative out there. And it's like, she's trying to make me her storyline.'

Teresa's past legal issues were also rehashed in the preview, as costar Rachel Fuda's husband John Fuda was heard heckling her about her past money woes.

He told her, 'You're the the poster child for mortgage fraud. When I need my money laundered, I'll call ya!'

On the RHONJ episode broadcast this past Sunday, Teresa and Rachel, 33, got personal with one another about each other's families, finances and careers.

Teresa mockingly said Rachel's spouse John works as a 'parking attendant;' and is the'biggest drug dealer in Bergen County.'

According to The U.S. Sun, Teresa was in debt to the government for more than $615,720.94 in back taxes as of last autumn.

A rep for the RHONJ mainstay issued a statement last year that read: 'Ms. Giudice has been aware of her tax obligations for years and makes significant timely monthly payments towards her outstanding tax liabilities and will continue to do so until those liabilities do not exist.'
