Brief history
- 1992 - Ceridian first founded as an information services company emerging from a restructure of American computer services and manufacturing company, Control Data Corporation (CDC).
- 2007 – Ceridian is acquired by Thomas H. Lee Partners and Fidelity National Financial (FNF) for US$5.3 billion.
- 2012 – Ceridian acquires Dayforce – a single point-of-entry SaaS application for HR, payroll, tax, benefits, workforce and talent management.
- October 2013 - Ceridian announces the legal separation of its Human Capital Management and payments businesses – resulting in the payments business being allocated to Comdata Inc and the HCM business being shifted to Ceridian HCM Holding Inc.
- February 2013 - David Ossip, the CEO of Dayforce, is appointed CEO of Ceridian HCM.
- April 2018 – Ceridian goes public with initial public offering raising over US$400 million.
- September 2019 – Ceridian acquires the Australia-based enterprise workforce management solutions provider, Riteq.
- April 2020 – Ceridian acquires an Asian HCM (Excelity Global Solutions).
- March 2021 – Ceridian acquires Ascender HCM.
And, in February 2022, Ceridian announced the appointment a newco-CEO Leagh Turnerwho works in close partnership with co-CEO, David Ossip. (Turner served as President and COO beginning 2018 working closely with Ossip since that time).

Ceridian is known for its flagship cloud HCM system known as Dayforce and they currently have more than 5,600 customers live on this agile SaaS platform which delivers global compliance, workforce intelligence, and people empowerment in today’s increasingly borderless, fluid, skills-based, and augmented world of work. Ceridian’s on-demand pay solution Dayforce Wallet gives workers access to their earned wages on-demand. It comes with an intuitive mobile app and a prepaid card – providing employees greater control over their financial wellbeing via access to their earned pay – when they need it with no direct fees charged to the employee or employer.
Dayforce Wallet has over 1,100 customers signed on and 530 customers live on the product in North America.

Driving Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG)
In the first quarter of this year, Ceridian published its 2022 Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) report which described a new strategy and series of goals to drive performance in areas critical to both its stakeholders and its success as a business. Ceridian’s ESG approach is based upon five pillars: governance and trust; our people; tech for good; our communities; and the environment.
Ceridian is also bringing Dayforce to eight new markets this year including Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan and Thailand.
