San Gimignano, a charming Tuscan town in Italy's Siena Province, is renowned for its picturesque hilly landscape and iconic medieval towers that dominate the skyline. Once an Etruscan village, it later became a significant stop for Catholic pilgrims en route to the Vatican and Rome, leading to its development and flourishing trade market.

A quaint medieval town with its famous towers. Worth a visit when in Tuscany. If you want to sit down, have a bite and a cup of coffee or buy some of the local delicacies I recommend doing it in some of the romantic back alleys and off the main street. Especially if it's crowded.

San Gimignano is the reason we came back to Tuscany after visiting it last yearfor a few hours, while driving through Tuscany.Beautiful walled medieval town, that was originally restored in 1800s, and probably the biggest attraction in Tuscany. The towers were a sign of wealth, and the taller the tower, the wealthier the family that owned them. They were originally built as protection against marauding neighboring townspeople, street scuffs, etc. these towers were connected to the residences of the owners. You can climb the tallest tower in town, for 7 Euros.

Angella R — Google review

A unique Skyline of 13 medieval towers in San Gimignano, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The views over the Tuscan hills are absolutely spectacular!!!In the 14th century there were 72 towers erected, when every well off family built a tower to show its economical power. We enjoyed strolling along the streets of this hilltop city admiring the medieval architecture. My son was over the moon when we found a store selling medieval items and we got him a good quality Roman helmet.

200% of history, 300%of atmosphere .A place unlike any other, a unique monument at every turn.I highly recommend a visit, it is a very special experience and feeling here.

Great town with big historical importance but too crowded in summer

Lovely town, really worth spending a few hours here if you are in Tuscany. Lots of tiny shops to buy souvenirs. The Cathedral is especially beautiful.

Eszter H — Google review

San Gimignano is a must-visit place in Tuscany. This hilly, postcard town features narrow cobblestone streets full of beautiful shops, lively piazzas, and breathtaking panoramic views. The architecture is amazing, and the shops are quaint and filled with authentic treats.

Highway V — Google review

Nice old Toscuny town. Very.busy during season. Be.there before 10am to find.the parking. Shoulder to shoulder, I think its better to go after summer Sept October or April and May

Vladislav F — Google review

One of my favorite places to visit! Walking the streets felt like going back in time! The architecture is unbelievable. The shops are quaint and full of authentic treats. The cobblestone streets lead to amazing sites and the views are spectacular. Stop for an ice cream, a meal or a souvenir. Make it a point to stop on your visit to Italy, it’s worth the trip.

San Gimignano isn’t just a destination; it’s an enchanting slice of Tuscany that demands your attention. This place? A must-visit gem that effortlessly steals your heart and leaves you in awe. Nestled in the Tuscan hills, its skyline adorned with towering medieval towers is a sight to behold. Why visit? Well, it’s not just one of the best places to visit in Tuscany; it’s an immersion into history, art, and the sheer beauty of Italian architecture. The narrow streets lined with charming shops, the quaint piazzas bustling with life, and the panoramic views that take your breath away—San Gimignano offers a quintessential Tuscan experience.Whether you’re a history buff exploring the ancient walls or a foodie delighting in the local delicacies, this place has something for everyone. It’s a postcard-worthy town that leaves an indelible mark on your soul. Trust me, a visit to San Gimignano is an experience you’ll cherish forever—a true highlight of any Tuscan adventure.

Kalyan R — Google review

Spent a couple hours here but was not long enough to properly explore and experience this beautiful town!

Peter L — Google review

If you get excited by armwrestling your way through the herds licking ice cream and gobbling pizza, then you’re in the right spot. If not, make sure to get out before 11am, you may find some room to wander and marvel. Oh and women? They will ban you from the Duomo as long as you don’t wear long trousers. And men? You can wear whatever, this church is still sexist….

Jaap R — Google review

A perfect historical village, hard to visit during daytime in summer because it is really too hot. You can find a parking place easily. The shops are also worth visiting especially for gifts or ceramic

Gülin Ç — Google review

One of the most beautiful places. A hill town, easy to walk from end to end. It can be steep in places. There is so much to see and do with the all in one ticket and so much cheaper then other tourist places. The Church of St. Augustine is a highlight. If you want gelato in the day you will have to queue for it, but it is customary to get a gelato and sit at the well in the main piazza.Prices are reasonable and buses run regularly. You can walk up to one of the highest points and looks over the rolling Tuscan hills; the towers; and over the medieval town. You can’t visit Tuscany without a day trip here, or more.

Mura di Monteriggioni - Lato Porta Fiorentina is a must-see attraction in Monteriggioni, featuring the historic Porta Romana and Porta Fiorentina gates. The castle complex offers a panoramic view of the surrounding area from its walls, making it worth the visit. It also houses a small museum and provides access to restaurants and souvenir shops.

Amazing old medieval small town, very well preserved. A walk on the city walls is must

Nizar K — Google review

This was an incredible town. There is a large carpark just outside the walls to park (paid). You will definitely need to do some walking to get around the small streets and the walls are up a few sets of stairs but overall it is an amazing spot to spend the day with incredible views of the surrounding areas.

A beautiful wall enclosed town! There are shops and cafes, a nice garden and free entrance! So happy we stumbled on it! The day we arrived the whole town had a power problem so all the shops but a souvenir shop was closed, but that meant it was basically empty so it was a lovely time!

This town is super peaceful alnd calm, comparing to others around the Toscana. But this porta has a beautiful view of the mountains and roads outside the Monteriggioni walls. Preferibly go in the afternoon but no later from evening for a better view.

I confess that I ended up staying here because it was more affordable than San Gimignano, but I'm so glad that I did. it's tiny but very imposing with great views, feels really safe even in dark alleyways at 11pm. it's really easy to go to San Gimignano for a few hours and then get the bus or train here. would recommend!

Zoo

The Zoo of Pistoia is a revered animal park that features more than 400 animals and engages in education and conservation efforts. The zoo boasts a variety of creatures, including lynxes, bears, wolves, and giraffes. Moreover, the enclosure areas are shaded by trees, providing a comfortable environment for the animals while making it easier to spot them.

Very nice little zoo, many different animals.I especially limed that comete zoo is in shade of trees. I am sure also animals appreciate that and it is easier to see them outside.Lynx, bear, wolf, giraffe... There was no elephant and hippo, enclosures were empty.

Tomo S — Google review

A great small zoo. The enclosures are really good. It is mainly under shade which was important in August. We saw most animals except the big cats and wolves. The penguins were our favourites. The cafe bars were good value and so was the entrance price. It was our first Italian zoo and we were impressed and had a fun packed 3 hours.

Steve K — Google review

Good zoo with playground for children, reasonable price — some animals were either hard to find, well hidden, or currently unavailable but despite that family had a great day out, easy to get to from main roads with a car, restaurant on site opened at 12.

Jack F — Google review

A really great zoo, really beautifully laid out, with lots of play options for children integrated into the animal facilities, e.g. you can go through a tube under a glass dome and be right in the middle of the meerkats' enclosure. Loving details. The animals all seem good and healthy. We can only recommend it. Large free parking lot, entry free for children up to 3, entry price of €19 per person is totally justified. It's worth it and we had a lovely day there.

Carola M — Google review

A delightful experience! We spent a couple of hours using the provided English map and guide and found it extremely useful. Unfortunately some animals like the brown bears, the tigers and the red pandas were not to be seen as they are nocturnal and were apparently sleeping during our visit. On the really positive side we were delighted with the variety of animals on show and particularly impressed with the porcupines, the markhors, the lions and the Aldabra Tortises.

Stephen R — Google review

A wonderful zoo! It is indeed not very big, but you can easily spend 3-4 hours here, like we did. There is a lot of shade, which is important on a hot summer day.A nice playground for children. We loved the variety of animals and how everything is arranged.Make sure you have comfortable shoes, as the zoo is on the hill and you will need to walk up and down a lot. But it's doable even with small children and a stroller!

Daria T — Google review

Beautiful zoo with happy animals. Clean toilet as well. Reasonable entry fee. The only thing we missed was a pet zoo. Regardless, highly recommended if you are in Tuscany.

Excellent zoo ! Not just cages, really cool ! A great travel in the animal's world ! My kids love !

Ivan I — Google review

Expensive entrance fees, it was rainy day we couldn’t see many animals unfortunately :(I would recommend to go to this one instead for same entrance fee Parco Natura Viva

Donia F — Google review

A really nice zoo with a lot of animals. Reasonable entry price although we could have saved by booking in advance. Plenty of free parking which is always welcome.Only niggle was a few empty enclosures and/or animals impossible to see. I know this is to be expected but it still disappoints. A bonus was that the gift shop was closed which saved me money! We did visit mid week in October.Overall well worth a visit.

Peter F — Google review

The park is in a desolate and terrible condition. The animals have hardly any space and whats worst: the health of the animals is alarming. The ostrich hardly has any feathers left, is bleeding and looks sick. A report has been made to the responsible veterinary authority - hopefully at least they will feel responsible for the animals well beeing if the zoo is not. It is awful and cruel.

Antonija T — Google review

War wirklich top!!!!(Translated by Google)We were 2 adults and 2 children. The price for everyone is completely ok at around 60 euros. Free parking available. The connection is great. The park is clean, very natural and really beautiful. There are trash cans and shaded seating on every corner. There are also some smaller and larger play options for children. It was really great and I can recommend it as an excursion, even from midday onwards. We were there from midday to 6 p.m. (park closing time). It was really great!!!!

Am amazing zoo experience !!Loved animals so wanted to go to this zoo whilst we were in Italy. The zoo was a perfect size, it wasn’t too large to walk around but not to small either. The animals had lovely enclosures with lots of greenery and space for the animals. The zoo didn’t feel run down, it was clean and had lots of nice natural shade on this particular sunny day ! There was an amazing range of animals and I even got to see my favourite, Capybaras, which cannot be found in UK zoos, so that was cool !! The giftshop was nice too where I bough a cute Guinea pig stuffed animal. I’d recommend seeing the Guinea pigs, they were adorable !

Elodie K — Google review

This is a gem of a zoo, impeccably maintained, happy, clearly well-cared for animals in spacious habitats, charming staff - honestly can’t recommend it highly enough! Even without animals it would be a beautiful park to visit. Particularly in love with the elephant, tapir, capybara, penguins, meercats... We were fortunate to meet the zoo director and various members of his staff - deeply committed to animal welfare and educational programs. Definitely five star operation!!!

Christina C — Google review

This is a smaller zoo, we paid kn the day and arrived early so.were.few people in the park. Clear map and layout is on a holl but easy walking and fine for buggies and small walking children. My children both enjoyed the time spent there.

Gemma B — Google review

We visited in the morning and although animals such as the bears, wolves etc were still in their bed, the kids (2&4) had a blast- as did we.The park is not too large and has lots of opportunities to stop and play in the playgrounds or for a bite to eat.The kids particularly enjoyed seeing the guinea pigs and their babies.

Kate C — Google review

Loved the birds and the bunnies (sry not pictured)!

Benson B — Google review

Excellent zoo, small but perfectly formed. The animals looked very well looked after and content. There is lots of shade to keep the animals cool. We drove here from southern Florence but really easy to drive to using the toll roads. The cafe was very good and the food was excellent. Will definitely be visiting again.

Wineries & Vineyards

Visit Azienda Agricola Montefioralle Winery, a small family-owned winery located in the medieval village of Montefioralle in the Chianti region. This charming winery produces only 10,000 bottles of wine annually, making it one of the smallest Chianti classico producers.

Alessia gave us a wonderful experience as she shared the history and wine process to us. As it is a family business, she shared her passion for this winery that her grandfather started many years ago. The wine tasting was very educational. We enjoyed our light lunch on-site. Nearby is a great spot for dining and shopping, a beautiful, quaint village nestled in the hills of the Chianti area of Tuscany.

Rachel P — Google review

Good wine tasting. There is parking across the street for a fee with very easy access to the winery. The view from the outdoor seating area was very nice and relaxing. The man working there was very friendly and accommodated up for a tasting even though we were a bit later than our scheduled time. The wine was a reasonable price and tasted good. The Vin Santo was an interesting sweet wine that I would recommend. 4 tastings and light snacks for 25€ a person.I would return here.

Steve T — Google review

We were so looking forward to this wine tasting and visit. We have visited many wine cellers in several countries and this is the only time that we felt the lack of interest from the person providing the `tour`. In 15mins the young lady managed to quicly explain everything about the bodega and wines. We then went inside, sat at a table and were given a small plate of different `bites´. No explanation as to what it was but frankly we noticed a line of plates sat on the kitchen table on arrival and it was inedible. We sampled 3 different chianti classic wines plus a vin sant (sweet wine). Sadly the lady poured the wine, explained `how it would be better in a few years`and disappeared downstairs to chat to her husband whilst we sipped the wine.Below average wines. Very below average interest. Very poor and disappointing and frustrating experience. Certainly would not recommend. We almost got up and left after the 2nd wine but felt that would be rude so we sat through it.

We had a wonderful time! When we arrived it was raining. After our wonderful and informative tour we had a great wine tasting. Yummy snacks to go with. After we ordered wine to be shipped home we we went to leave and the sun was shining! What a wonderful way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Thank you very much!!!

Absolutely MUST visit when in the area! This is the perfect example of a beautiful and immersive wine experience. I was lucky enough to meet Manila and Lorenzo who were beyond hospitable in every way. The wines are some of the best I’ve had, and the view cannot be beat. Do not miss this winery!

Lovely vineyard tour + dinner! While researching for a large family trip to Tuscany we came upon this small family vineyard. My correspondance with Lorenzo, the owner was warm and accommodating & when the dilemma of dinner arose he suggested his neighbors Gian Luca & Monica prepare a meal & combine his wine pairings! After an informative tour of the small family vineyard we strolled over to the home of the Cook. Oh my - this did not disappoint!!! The collaboration between Gian Luca & Monica’s culinary skills & Lorenzo’s beautiful wines provided our family an extraordinary evening in Tuscany! I highly recommend this lovely vineyard and a customized tasting with aperitifs for a memorable experience❤️

Dr. L — Google review

I truly enjoyed my visit and wine tasting experience at Montefioralle! Alessia was a very pleasant & gracious guide explaining how they make their wine and informing us when it is a good time to enjoy them. I love visiting small, family-owned wineries and learning about their winemaking method. I appreciate that they follow sustainable practices and their wines are certified organic. I’ve done wine tasting previously and my only suggestion, particularly if there are first-timers in wine-tasting in the group, would be to recommend which antipasti served pairs well with the wine being served. Thank you for a wonderful experience and I truly hope that your next harvest will be a good & bountiful one.

Joie P — Google review

This is a lovely family owned and operated vineyard. Their Chianti was the best Chianti we had while our stay in Italy. This is a small quaint vineyard with a sweet little history. The food provided with the wine was very nice as well as the view of Montefioralle. It was worth taking a little extra time to visit to little village to us. I would recommend parking in the parking provided by the vineyard and walk to the village from the parking lot as there is limited parking in the village. We found a cafe open and enjoyed splitting a delicious panni while taking in the quaintness of the village. We enjoyed the experience.

Jennifer T — Google review

Relatively small wine house located in a beautiful area. The views are stunning, and Chianti wine is really tasty. Marco does a great job as a host and tour guide 🙌👏

Piotr Z — Google review

Experience not recommended. The tour of the winery took 10 minutes with pour explanations. The wine tasting was quite poor, no glass change between wine and wine, no explanations of the aperitive recommended with each wine, neither explanations of the tastes or smells. If you are looking for a wine tasting experience in the Toscana or for wine taste by a small family supplier, definitely is not the place

Maria L — Google review

I can fully recommend the wine tasting. We had a small tour through the cellar. Very interesting and well explained. Then we tried 4 wines with some food. For the price of the tour the value was very good with sufficient wine to test in our glasses. Not all of the wine was fully our taste. But 2 of them met our taste very well, so we bought some of them. Overall a nice experience with great views from the terrace.

Anett B — Google review

We had a prearranged private tour. The hospitality was amazing! The wine tasting was fabulous and informative. I highly recommend this family run winery for a personal touch!

Montefioralle is a cute medieval village in Greve in Chianti, Tuscany / Italy, unchanged by the passage of time. It is claimed to be the birthplace of Amerigo Vespucci. In this timeless place, I discovered the perfect azienda/ company for a wine tasting accompanied by medieval food. A very welcoming family and an excellent wine! You can buy not only wine directly from the producers, but also a very good olive oil. An unforgettable experience! Thanks to the family for the organization. One day I will return to this place of beauty and peace.Sincerely, Ramona Rørvik (leader of the Norwegian group with classic cars).🙏

This is a small, authentic family-run winery experience. Our guide Marco was genuine and candid. The hilltop setting was stunning. It takes 7 minutes to drive from Greve on scenic roads. The experience is quaintly informal and very memorable.

Tara M — Google review

We had an amazing vertical tasting at this family run winery. We got to try Wine from up to 24 years ago. From the tour, to the explanation, to the food and of course the wines everything was truly delightful. Highly recommend booking a visit. If you’re looking for a good high quality wines with an emphasis on family and tradition this is the place.

Anthony F — Google review

Came here with my partner for the wine tour. The guide was very knowledgeable and we got to sit down and have a beautiful tasting outside overlooking the Montefioralle and valleys. We were also given some food to pair with the wine which was delicious. Definitely recommend!

Alex R — Google review

We were really looking forward to a great afternoon with great weather enjoying great wine in the Tuscan sun looking up at the village of Montefioralle. The experience fell FAR short of our aspirations. Our hostess, the daughter in law of the winery's founder, was disinterested and seemingly annoyed that the other party that reserved the same time did not show up. She was less than friendly, and though she took us on a tour of the small winery, her spiel was robotic, monotone, and hurried. There were four tables that seated 8 people each on the patio. There were 4 people in our party, leaving seating for 28 other people. When we had completed the tasting and asked if we may buy a couple bottles and sit and drink them, we were told that wasn't possible because they had another tasting to complete. We saw that there was a small sitting area adjacent to the patio, and asked if we might be able to sit there and enjoy our wine and were told, "we don't normally do that, but I guess it would be fine". No effort was made to provide glasses or even help open the wine we had purchased, so we just quietly left. It's really a shame because the area is beautiful and the wine was good but the customer service is very poor and she made us feel like an unwelcome intrusion on her day.

Scott C — Google review

It was a very hot day, but we had a wonderful experience in the winery garden. Manila gave us a detailed and passionate explanation of the winemaking process at this small but traditional winery. I will never forget the stately depth of the Chianti Classico Riserva and the amber roundness of the Monteficalle IGT. I would like to visit again someday.

Kaz I — Google review

This was the most special experience my family and I shared on our trip to Italy this year. We did the vertical wine tasting and Lorenzo and the rest of his family treated us like one of their own! We got to learn the family history through stories and wines. Between beautiful vistas and amazing wines, I would 100% recommend this tour to ANYONE even slightly interested in wine. We are definitely going to come visit again when more vintages are ready to be tried!

P D — Google review

Such a genuine and special experience! Our group of 4 was greeted warmly by Lorenzo and Alessia. Montefiorella is a small and family owned vineyard, which is what we were looking for. I HIGHLY recommend booking the vertical tasting for an elevated and intimate experience - definitely worth it. Lorenzo is so friendly, humble, and is truly passionate about Montefioralle, he answered all of our questions and openly shared his family’s history with the winery, making the afternoon unforgettable. Their homemade snacks were tasty and made the experience that much more special and family oriented. My favourite vintage was the 1998!

Art museum

Museums

The Uffizi Gallery, a 16th-century building, houses an extensive collection of Primitive and Renaissance paintings and masterpieces. It is one of Europe's largest art museums, conveniently organized by periods. This arrangement allows visitors to witness the profound changes brought about by the Renaissance in artists' perception and portrayal of the world. The artworks transition from static Byzantine representations to more realistic and human depictions, incorporating portraits, allegorical themes, landscapes alongside religious subjects.

One of the great art museums of the world. Crowded, even when I went early on a Monday morning in late October. But let the tour groups pass you by, as they are led through, and enjoy an amazing collection of world famous pictures. Take time to admire the building too, it is fantastic in its own way. I hardly scratched the surface despite spending all morning there.

Ian W — Google review

An unforgettable experience. Booked in advance and arrived for our set time. A seamless process. Inside is a breathtaking collection covering Italy's masters. Queue's inevitable even with time slots, but friendly and helpful staff stop queue jumpers, and help people around the displays. Take care not to miss the Botticellis due to the queue to the original statues from the ground floor. Air conditioning in places makes for a comfortable experience in the hot summer weather, 35' outside. A splendid cafe and shop are available and clean toilets and lifts across the museum.

Joel W — Google review

I found the set up confusing. No signs to tell you where each artists is except when you enter the room already…. I ended up going back on myself as I’d missed some rooms. for the price of entry, and given how many tourists visit, I found this surprising. There should be better instructions or maps for visitors. The audio guide does not give you any tips either. Only useful for when you are standing in front of a painting. Impossible to see number of audio when so many people in front of works.Quality of work is exceptional if you like the era. It’s not relaxing at all unfortunately. Totally chaotic.

Really enjoyed this gallery! The pieces are nice and I really appreciated how organized it was. Entry was really smooth and there are arrows everywhere telling you which direction to go.After some overly confusing lines in Europe for other attractions, this really was a breath of fresh air.I would highly recommend visiting and enjoying all that it has to offer.Google also keeps flagging me for nudity in literal paintings and sculptures, so hopefully this doesn’t get taken down too. Feel like we’re mature enough to not care much about stuff like that

Magnificent museum housing some of the greatest artworks in Italian history. If you are an art lover, you could literally spend the whole day here. We stayed for a mere two hours, but felt that we should have reserved more time for this museum. We paid €24 for four audio guides, which were very helpful since we’re not really art people; the recordings taught us how to admire the works, and introduced the history of important works. I wish the audio guide would also introduce the special exhibition on deities, though. A long queue was outside the museum even though we paid for the tickets in advance. I would recommend all visitors to arrive at least 15 minutes before their time slot.

Pui C — Google review

One of the world’s greatest art museums. I highly recommend visiting the Uffizi during their evening hours, which are on Tuesdays. Plan on spending a good two hours here if you go in the evening when there are fewer visitors. The museum store is also very solid. I am happy with the Uffizi masterpieces book I purchased.

Christopher S — Google review

Didn't expect the museum to be this huge. Every door you'd walk into, there were another two doors to explore. It was really worth the money. If you have a reservation, make sure you ask the staff outside on which line you should be waiting at so you won't have to wait for longer than you should as it took me some extra 20-30 minutes to get in (even if I arrived before my reservation).

Ionuț-Daniel C — Google review

A fantastic experience. You will find works from a endless selection, Raphael, Leonardo, The Dutch Masters to contemporary and modern art. The building itself is breathtaking, including a terrace with a banging view. Make sure to take enough time, the place is huge, and booking in advance is recommended.

Beautiful art, but absolutely PACKED. Lines to get in and then lines into each of the galleries. It was also quite hot, despite it being a cool day. it’s a good thing to see while in Florence, but it was hard to enjoy the beautiful art. Overall we are still glad we went

Aaron S — Google review

You can see important historical artworks here. Absolutely worth the price of entry. Audio tour starts on the 2nd floor. If you aren't taking a guided tour, the audio guide is worth the cost. You need a government issued ID for that. It can be warm, so bring a fan.

Missy H — Google review

Great gallery! Don't be scared of the long waiting time. When your timeslots arrives, all people in line will be guided into the gallery. Don't bring a water bottle larger than 50 cl with you. On the top floor is a big waiting line for the 'Tribune'. But the waiting line is due to bad organisation of the gallery. There are other options to see the room (from the other sides) and the line is therefore u reasonable. Also, the bathrooms were clean due to the worker cleaning them constantly, but no toilet lids available....

Antonios L — Google review

For me this gallery turned out to be a shock. It really is a gallery, the real thing. Marvellous paintings on the ceilings, amazing feeling.I was just going to the gallery, not looking for something special. My expectations were fully met.I bought my ticket in advance, which is very convenient.

Ira_ I — Google review

The gallery itself and the artworks housed within it are truly breathtaking. To see originals by some of the world's leading artists and sculptors is truly a once in a lifetime experience if you don't live in Italy. The brightly coloured jewelled coloured walls and the gold gilded and ornate frames are almost as impressive and certainly compliment the artworks on display. You could easily spend all day here. We were here for just over 3 years. There were however a couple of disappointing things.Even though we had tickets for 3.30, we still had to wait in a queue that ran the entire length of the building and wait 30 mins to gain entry.Once inside there were so many private tours, some large and some small. All the tour guides would crowd around the most popular works of art and speak into their tiny microphones with their guests crowded around, all with their phones and cameras in the air, trying to take photos. It was a shame we couldn't get close enough to admire some pieces and read the information plaques. There are some great vantage points for photos from inside the museum and the ceilings are sublime.Highly recommended if you are an art lover. It's a lot to take in.

Samantha P — Google review

I recommend you take a guided tour of the Uffizi Gallery. It's truly too large to navigate and absorb all of the artwork in a single visit. We didn't book a guide, but wish we had. After 3hrs hours we were just overwhelmed with the art and had to leave. Those groups with guides that we saw received the highlights with all of the anecdotes and were kept on a pace that meant they were not exhausted by the experience.

Dean W — Google review

Stunning. My wife and I visited early on a Thursday morning in late October. We had booked tickets online, which was easy enough. Outside the building is lovely, with many nice statues of the masters and their famous patrons.Inside, after security, there are quite a lot of steps to climb so be aware of that (there is a lift for those who'd struggle to get up them). Once you're up the steps you're greeted with Roman art, which is impressive and worth looking at. Then we are in the medieval era, where Greek inspired iconography dominates. This area is very golden and beautiful, giving you the context for later. Then we get to the Renaissance. This is what we came to see and we were not disappointed. Fabulous art of the highest quality ever made. For me the Botticelli room was the peak, I'd love to get to spend an hour there without the crowds. Other big highlights are the Leonardo da Vinci art and a beautiful Michaelangelo painting, as well as a few by Raffaelo and some great works by Filippo Lippi. All in all there is too much great art to even talk about, if you are there less than two hours you are doing something wrong.Highly recommended, if I am ever in the area again I will be back!

Drew Y — Google review

Even though some staff are very unfriendly, there are no maps, and navigation is precarious, we had a great time. The staff should create a way to avoid the 45-minute line inside to see some sculptures, perhaps a sort of rotunda for people to walk and admire without stopping. Everything is just marvelous, but I especially enjoyed the section with the Dutch painters.

Ferdinand H — Google review

Amazing place. Tons of artwork. Great view of the river from the window. My highlight was seeing the Venus masterpiece. Didn't have tickets in advance but were able to quickly purchase, and the line up to get in didn't take long at all.

Daniel M — Google review

A great place to spend a day. Everywhere you turn there’s a hidden treasure. We went as part of a tour, I would recommend this as you get much deeper into the artwork. Luckily we went on a day when the guide said it wasn’t busy, even though it was a Saturday.

Mike T — Google review

Absolute classic, once you're in Florence you have to visit Galleria Uffizi - it contains a lot of famous paintings, sculptures, you can walk there literally for 4-5 hours. It has also very nice terrace overlooking Palazzo Vecchio with cafeteria. Very recommended!

Eva L — Google review

Amazing experience and beautiful art throughout. I took my teenage son, husband and mother to the Uffizi and they loved it specifically the birth of Venus. I would just warn to make enough time in your schedule if you would like to see the whole museum.

K G — Google review

Very poor organized. Long queue and many people cutting the line. Audio guide renting has only one stuff in such a famous and large gallery. No headset provided with the audio guide. Many paintings don’t have audio. Very bad lighting on the paintings too.Toilets are dirty and not enough for the number of visitours

J C — Google review

This is my all time favourite museum. I was very excited to visit it. It has some amazing artwork from big names such as Botticelli, Caravaggio, da Vinci, Michelangelo and many many others. I had an amazing time here.I strongly suggest to buy tickets in time, otherwise the line is quite long. I got mine a couple of days before, and I still waited a little to get in. Also, I recommend to read a little about the city, the museum and the artwork there, in order to fully appreciate it to its true value. And I also recommend to take time to visit the entire place, and admire the beautiful architecture and all the art, not only the quick tour with the more famous artists. The entire tour takes about 3 hours and the itinerary can be found on their website. This is not a good place to be on a rush…I see others complaining about the place being crowded, which is true. However, it is something very special so it is worth it. I took my time with the visit and waited until the rooms were quite empty so I could enjoy everything slowly. There are organized groups which you can avoid if you prefer less crowded spaces.

The Piazzale Michelangelo, a 19th-century square, provides panoramic views of Florence and houses a bronze replica of Michelangelo's David. Often misspelled as Piazzale Michelangelo, this terrace is a popular stop for tour buses and offers iconic postcard shots of the cathedral. To avoid crowds, it is best to visit in late afternoon or early evening, especially during busy tourist seasons.

It's absolutely a must go place in Florence. It has about 10-15 minutes uphill walk, but the view along the way makes up for it. And the panoramic view there is spectacular. The piazzale is huge, so there is a big crowd, but if you want a quiet space, there is also plenty of it. You can bring food and drinks and easily enjoy yourself , the view and sunset there the whole evening.

金兰吕 — Google review

Great place to catch panoramic views of the city. - bit of a walk to reach here but totally worth it. You can also purchase locally made things in the shops on top.

Siddhartha J — Google review

Experiencing sunset at Piazzale Michelangelo was like stepping into a masterpiece! As the golden light bathed Florence, the city's iconic domes, towers, and bridges came to life against the stunning backdrop of rolling Tuscan hills. The sweeping panoramas captured every breathtaking angle, blending vibrant colors with serene cityscapes. Watching the sun dip beyond Florence from this vantage point is unforgettable—an absolute must for any visitor!

Georgios P — Google review

My second visit after 18 years and the sunset views over the city were absolutely gorgeous, but I noticed 10x more people were there this time and we could hardly find a spot to even watch the sunset, let alone sitting. I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5 because this place is too crowded, too much touristy and over-advertised

Ryan F — Google review

People visit and sit by the stairs to watch the sunset. There are few kiosks and restaurants at the top. On our visit, there was a singer busking that made the night lively. Sip some wine or have a bottle of beer as you enjoy the perfect view of the city.

Lyka A — Google review

A great place to see Florence from. There are several windy footpaths that get you to the top. At the top is a big market selling all sorts of souvenirs. There is also a large cafe to sit, or take away refreshments. Their ice cream is very good.

Michael B — Google review

Best place to go whilst in Florence. You can walk from pitti palace. It’s a lovely walk down an old narrow road. Stop in old town for lunch to recharge. Then head up. Worth it. Views are spectacular. Food stalls serving drinks and some good tourist stalls too. I did all my gift buying here.

Evelyn F — Google review

If you want to see the BEST view of Florence/surroundings this is THE place! The view is very clear and is crowded but not crowded enough so that it ruins the view plus there are numerous souvenir ‘shops’ and food vans around for a quick snack. Definitely worth a visit if you are visiting Florence!

Oliver — Google review

A friend told us to walk up the hill to see the views over Florence. So glad we did! We weren't disappointed - stunning views across the city and river! Lovely walk through trees, bit of a zig-zag climb. Lots of touristy stalls at the top selling gifts. Paths are pushchair and wheel chair accessible, although steep in places.

Julie M — Google review

The most stunning view of the city that I visited. It was really amazing heard the bells from the cathedral at this location.A few more minutes from there there is an old beautiful church on the top of the hill with a great view too.

Kenneth N — Google review

A place worth visiting not only for it's scenic beauty but also for the ambience. Take a coffee and enjoy the sunset over the stretched city. You will never forget the experience for sure.

If you want an amazing view of Florence, day or night, this is where you need to be.Great views.Facilities available, canteen for drinks and snacks is present on site.

Scott T — Google review

OMG, you have to go to this place. The view, especially at sunset is amazing. Especially with people sitting on the stairs, back to back, just waiting for the sun to perform for them. When we were there, someone was playing live music, which added a lot to our experience. Also, visit the La Loggia restaurant. Sit outside and have at least a drink or something to enjoy the amazing view.

Mary M — Google review

Great views and nice hike walk up to this high viewpoint , perched to see the entire Florence city and its gets really busy during sunsets and there is a cafe there to sit down and relax and watch the beautiful city of FlorenceI would highly recommend this place as it’s a nice evening walk along the river and then up to this piazza, it has both stairs and inclined walkways, makes it easier and you can time yourself as no need to rush. Very beautiful garden and fountain on the wayno tickets are required to enter this as it’s free to enter park.

Super viewing point with panoramic views across Florence.Beautiful in the day or night.Lots of local kids hanging together drinking the own liquor and chilling. No issues.Bar and club to the side.Plenty of parking around. Can get quite busy during peak times.Sunsets and sunrises must be beautiful here...Visited after 23.5yrs. Worth it.

Naz N — Google review

I went there 2 hours before the sunset. So I could see both day time and night time. First of all, the view is amazing. There are live street musicians, food vendors and cafes in the square. It is a very social environment. I sit on the stairs and had chats with different people from all over the world and enjoyed it very much. This was my one of the finest moments in Florence for me and it was all FREE. Definitely recommended.

Mehmet A — Google review

The most iconic view of Firenze. You can take the bus to come here, the taxi, but honestly, Firenze is a small city so just walk. It's much more enjoyable an you can discover hidden places.

Dodd O — Google review

Great views over such an incredible city. A bit if a climb but a taxi didn't cost a fortune. Free to visit. A fairly straightforward and very picturesque walk back to the city. Well worth the effort for a different perspective of Florence!

Jonathan S — Google review

What a breathtaking place. Although it was hot in August but the climb was worthy. You will enjoy the full view of the city from the top where you can see most of Florence’s main attractions. Take your time and take a photo that will definitely memorize your stay. Going up you will also pass by the waterfalls and the fountains full of small colorful fishes. The kids will certainly like them.

Basma L — Google review

My favourite spot from Florence. We went for the sunset one evening, and after dark another day, and although there was lots of people it was so beautiful there. We got drinks, sat on those big stairs and listened to live music. Core memories.

Kasia C — Google review

Lovely sunset point with a view of the city and the river. Can get very busy on clear day. It's a good uphill walk or one can get there by busy. Beware of pick pockets.

P V — Google review

Worth the hike up. Go right before sunset. Beautiful view of the skyline of the city with mountains in the distance. DJ plays music while visitors watch the sunset. Watch for scammers playing the cup and ball trick to distract you while pickpockets work. They work in teams.

Donna M — Google review

You have to visit this place if you’re in Florence! Early morning (before sunrise) or late afternoon (before sunset) gives best views. I prefer morning visit as it’s too crowded at sunset time.

Shiping L — Google review

Amazing view over all of Florence.Maybe don‘t go there during the hottest time of day, as you need to go up a hill and then a few steps. But the view is worth it all, try it at sun rise/set and you‘ll be amazed at its‘ beauty.

Cathedral

Sights & Landmarks

The Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, a renowned 1200s landmark, is characterized by its red-tiled dome, colored marble facade, and elegant Giotto tower. Situated in the heart of Florence at Piazza del Duomo, it serves as the city's main church and boasts remarkable architectural features. The prominent dome, designed by the brilliant architect Filippo Brunelleschi, remains the largest brick dome ever constructed.

The Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, or the Duomo, is an absolute marvel in Florence, an iconic site that blends art, architecture, and history. The breathtaking exterior is a work of art on its own—adorned with intricate marble facades in pink, green, and white—and is worth walking around before heading inside to appreciate its full grandeur.Inside, the cathedral’s beauty continues with Brunelleschi’s dome, which you can even climb for a panoramic view of Florence. Average wait times vary, typically around 20-40 minutes, especially during peak hours, but the line often moves steadily. Tickets to enter the Duomo are around €18-€30 depending on the areas you wish to access (including the Dome climb, Baptistery, or the museum), with advance booking recommended to avoid the longest queues.Overall, the Duomo is a must-visit experience that offers a powerful feeling of Florence’s history and artistry. Its scale, craftsmanship, and unforgettable views make it a true highlight of any trip to the city.

I. M — Google review

Absolute beautiful piece of architecture. Definitely something worth visiting. They even have a free entry line to walk into the cathedral as well which is handy, but the line is very long so be aware of that. But that being said, the line moved rather quickly (~45mins) for a free tourist attraction. The interior does not need a whole lot of time for though but they have paid-access only sections if you wish to visit those.

Sahil L — Google review

Remarkable. You will be very thankful you went here. Many famous people are buried here in this church for you to respect. The art and details and craftsmanship that went into this is superb 👏 👌🏼 👍🏼 you should get your tickets online, which makes things very easy.

Kyle — Google review

Free entry tot eh church paid options available to go up to the top of the dome. The outside is honestly the best part. Such an impressive building very unique. Worth the look not too much on the inside but free and easy to get it.

J W — Google review

We ordered tickets in advance and it was extremely efficient to enter. The Done was 400+ steps to the top. 1/2 way was a great view of the Church and Dome paintings. The view from the top was incredible.

Scott T — Google review

We did a little walking tour which concluded with a climb up the dome. Best way to see Florence. I highly recommend you go early in the day as it get so hot (August, 40°). Also 400+ steps, be warned.

Peter D — Google review

The Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore is simply magnificent. A super beautiful cathedral and the fulcrum of this beautiful city. I’ve travelled a lot, but this is more than likely one of the most fantastic architectural buildings I have ever seen. I wish I had the time to see inside.

David H — Google review

Beautiful cathedral, you can't imagine how big it is when you see it in the picture. When you see it in reality you are fascinated by its beauty and largeness. And then there are all those decorations, carvings in marble, statues. The facade looks amazing. We didn't get inside because the line was very long, so maybe next time. But all in all the we are very impressed by it.

Biljana N — Google review

An amazing cathedral, which is the landmark of Florence. We had booked the Ghiotto pass, as the Bruschenelli passes ran out quickly. The latter pass allows access to the top of the dome. The cathedral was marvellous and the views from the top of the bell tower were also great. Although a climb of over 440 steps, it doesn't feel rigorous as you get sufficient places to rest in between. Also note that there are free toilets inside the museum. The time mentioned on your pass is only for the entry to the bell tower and not for access to the other locations, which by the way can be completed over three days.Definitely, a must visit at Florence.

George M — Google review

Thee main attraction of Florence. You can find the Cathedral right in the centre of the city, with plenty of shops, bars, restaurants etc around. We bought the pass (directly from the official website) that allows entry to the dome, bell tower, baptistry, crypt and the museum - would highly highly recommend. There seemed to be a huge line to enter the cathedral (it's free so everyone wants to get in), however, I would recommend entry into the crypt using the pass - not only do you get into the crypt (which was cool to see the foundations and the history buried below the cathedral) but it also allows you direct entry into the cathedral, therefore skipping the line for cathedral entry. The facade of the cathedral itself is more grand than the interior, except of course for the domes painted interior. If you share this opinion, I would recommend the museum, which gives the history of the facade (and the dome) in plenty of detail. They even have a 1:1 scale model of the facade that existed before the current one.Would recommend a visit.

James R — Google review

The exterior is amazing but I’m not sure waiting to view the interior is. The cathedral in Como was much more impressive inside and no wait. This cathedral is simply massive but not a must see.

SA S — Google review

On April I visited the Cathedral of Florence, and it was an incredible experience! The moment I approached Santa Maria del Fiore, I was awestruck by its grandeur. The intricate details of the marble facade are truly stunning, and I spent quite a bit of time just admiring the craftsmanship. The combination of green, pink, and white marble creates such a beautiful and unique look that I’ve never seen anywhere else. What really blew me away was the dome. Climbing to the top was a bit of a workout, but the view was absolutely worth it! You can see all of Florence laid out before you, with the Arno River winding through the city and the rolling hills in the distance. Standing up there, I felt a real connection to the history of this place. Brunelleschi’s genius is evident in every curve and arch of the dome. Inside the cathedral, the atmosphere is so peaceful. The vastness of the interior is humbling, and the beautiful frescoes on the ceiling are mesmerizing. I spent time just taking it all in, feeling grateful to be in such a magnificent space filled with art and history. The nearby Baptistery and Giotto's Campanile are also worth exploring. The intricate doors of the Baptistery are like something out of a fairy tale. Overall, my visit to the Cathedral of Florence was one of the highlights of my trip. I can’t recommend it enough to anyone who loves art, history, or just beautiful architecture. It’s a place that truly captures the essence of Florence.

Nina T — Google review

Located in the heart of the city, this cathedral is so big. You have to pay attention to all the details in the way it is constructed, the structures, the decorations, the colors. The area around the cathedral is very busy and full of crowds. But you will be able to enjoy its beauty. Tickets have to be purchased if you intend to go inside or climbe the top.

Basma L — Google review

It is beautiful. I couldn't take off my eyes of it, taking a lot of pictures. However, to visit it inside for free, I had to stand in a long queue under the sun and 38°C. The interior does not have this magical effect like a facade. The sitting on the chair is interdit.

Oksana S — Google review

Very underwhelming inside considering the length of the queue for entry. It may have been better if they didn’t have to largest window covered by scaffold but even then, the rest of the cathedral lacks character. The outside however is absolutely amazing.

Jack M — Google review

Must visit, even if you just go to see the outside which is frankly the most spectacular part.We took the full pass and saw the church, the baptistry (which was unfortunately undergoing restoration of it's ceiling the most beautiful part), the museum, and we somehow managed to climb to the top of the bell tower. There are spectacular views across Florence from the bell tower and as someone not great with heights I will say it is difficult but manageable as there are so many floors to stop at you can calm yourself down and rebuild your courage to attempt the next floor!

Rob G — Google review

When one descends onto the square and sees the spectacular Cathedral come into view, it's to be expected that one's jaws will drop - like mine did. This truly is a spectacle, a feast for the senses if you will, and every inch of this marvel of classic Italian architecture is an opportunity to behold the craftsmanship that went into bringing this grand beauty to life. Going up the gruelling 463 steps to the duomo will grant you sumptuous views of the Florentine landscape, so it's absolutely worth every step and the photo opportunities are aplenty. Again, this has to be part of your visit as without seeing it, you've not really seen Florence at all. Expect long queues but have patience and you'll be rewarded with an experience you will never forget. Simply unmissable.

Sadek M — Google review

The Florence Cathedral is a breathtaking architectural marvel. Its immense size and intricate details are awe-inspiring. Prepare for crowds and queues, especially in warm weather. Climbing the dome is a must for stunning city views. The surrounding square is a lovely spot to relax, shop, or enjoy a (pricey) café. Despite the crowds, this iconic landmark is a highlight of any Florence visit

Manthan S — Google review

An icon of Florence, Italy, the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore is a prominent landmark from most vantage points in the city. When you get close, the contrasting and uniformly painted colours of the building's exterior can be appreciated. Getting a ticket to enter is recommended. Outside, an open space dotted with cafes and restaurants allow for a break or meal as you explore this beautiful place.

Joweli — Google review

I stayed at a b&b steps away from the Duomo. Part of my run route every morning was circling this breathtaking cathedral. Lots of little stands and shops, food and gelato all around here. It was a lovely place to walk around at any time of day. The line to enter moved quickly as they allow a few hundred people at a time.

Alexandra F — Google review

Most beautiful structure in Florence. Been here twice and still stunned by its beauty. We did the climb up to the dome. It was on a scheduled climb, where we had to book appointment for the climb. This was helpful because the climb didn’t seem so overcrowded and congested like the previous times. The climb was tough because it was in tight stair spaces, but it felt very authentic because everything was so well preserved.View up top was also great, best view of all Florence

JJ — Google review

Haven’t been inside however our first day in Florence and while walking we bumped into this fascinating building. It definitely stands out and gets the wow factor on first impressions.Take a walk around and enjoy the open area 😊

Greek A — Google review

Just a magnificent dome cathedral! All of the original statues from the outside are in the adjacent museum and those on the cathedral are replicas. The museum is a must visit. The cathedral is surprisingly humble inside compared to other cathedrals you enter. The baptistry has greater embellishments inside, aside from the obvious dome fresco, which is spectacular. You have to see it to truly appreciate the scale.

Dean W — Google review

Amazingly beautiful! Instantly recognizable, Florence cathedral is very well built and is very very big! The Accademia Gallery in Florence is a renowned art museum that dates back to the 1780s. Originally established as an educational institution for students at the Academy of Fine Arts, it has become synonymous with Michelangelo's famous statue of David. This colossal marble sculpture, standing at five meters tall, is considered one of the world's most iconic and impressive artworks.

What a great museum to get a feel for the birth of the Renaissance era of the world. The queue line to get in can be quite long so make sure to buy tickets in advance!Going through a guided tour like I did made the wait pretty small, but it does come with a premium cost of course. The Statue of David is quite the thing to see in real life! Highly recommend to stop by while in Florence!

Absolutely fantastic! The Galleria dell'Accademia in Florence is a must-see for art lovers. Michelangelo's statue of David is breathtaking: seeing the perfection of its details and the majesty of this masterpiece up close is incredible. The museum's atmosphere is captivating, and there's so much more to see beyond David, with masterpieces that showcase the grandeur of the Renaissance. I highly recommend a visit!

Located in the centre of Florence and most famous for the sculpture of Micheal Angelo's David.David is fascinating and huge so it is worth just visiting to see him. However this art gallery does have some quite stunning iconography pieces which is why I particularly like this gallery. It is not a large gallery and is only set over two floors so they do pack in the exhibits. This gallery does get very busy so book your ticket early and if you can on a weekday.

Martin H — Google review

We went on a weekend through a tour guide. Honestly I feel that's the best way to do it. You skip the frustration of the line and you enter in about 10min. With the guide you they explain in detail what you are seeing and gives you a better appreciation of the art pieces. We had the guide for about an hour to hit the highlights of Michael Angelo's sculptures then we were able to stay in museum as along as we desired. It is a must see in Florence. The statue of David is pretty breathtaking in person.

Michelle L — Google review

Another incredible experience as a first timer. The collections of sculptures and plastic moulds, in particular, was unique and incredible to witness. There was a 30 minute queue to enter and the ticket cost was €16, which is more expensive than the more expansive Uffizi, however, if you can, visit both. The David statue is majestic and well worth it, plus there are displays of musical instruments and other bits and pieces, which you will find similar displays of elsewhere.

Lewis — Google review

It is crucial to stop at Galleria dell'Accademia di Firenze to see the statue of David. This statue is far more impressive and detailed when looking looking at it in-person. Besides David, there is much more artwork from the renaissance and medieval periods. There was one room with Christian paintings dating back to the 13th century. Leading up to the grand dome with the David statue, there are several unfinished statues from Michelangelo. There’s so much grand art to enjoy at this museum in addition to David. If you happen to be there the first Sunday of the month, tickets are free! Otherwise, I’d recommend purchasing tickets in advance.

Frenite — Google review

I think 90% of the value of this gallery is due to Michael Angelo's David and his incomplete sculptures. The rest feels like extras. There is a little wing of the museum called "music instrument museum" or something like that. Please from one musician to another, DO NOT visit this place, it's just sad.If you really wanna see the David, go for it, if you are not sure, don't pay for this.Recommended only if you really know who Michael Angelo is.

Christian M — Google review

A must see in Florence! David was even more striking in person than I imagined. There are several other statues by Michelangelo and many other works worth seeing too!Definitely get tickets in advance, even if marked up a bit by a third party company - it’s worth avoiding an hours-long queue in the summer heat!

Brittany R — Google review

My visit to the Galleria dell'Accademia in Florence was an unforgettable experience. The highlight, of course, was Michelangelo's David, a masterpiece that truly leaves you in awe when you see it up close. The level of detail in the sculpture is breathtaking, from the lifelike muscles to the expression of quiet confidence on David's face. The gallery itself was well-organized, and the staff was helpful. I highly recommend this visit to anyone passionate about art and history. David alone is worth the trip, but the museum’s other works provide a rich context for the artistic culture of Florence.

Ana G — Google review

Well worth it just to see the David. Then be amazed by all the other masterpieces and sculptures.Get your tickets well in advance if you want to get in while you are there. Or... If you can time it right, they are open later on Tuesdays.

Vinnie H — Google review

This is absolutely a must-visit in Florence, especially for art lovers and history enthusiasts. The highlight, of course, is Michelangelo's iconic statue of David.Beyond David, the museum houses other impressive works of Renaissance art, including unfinished sculptures by Michelangelo and beautiful religious paintings. The layout is easy to navigate, and while the museum isn't huge, every room is filled with incredible pieces.I recommend getting tickets in advance and be on your line a little early to get the first spot outside for your time slot.

Mehmet A — Google review

Make sure you book this place in advance to avoid long wait times. We did spot people trying to get tickets online whilst on their phones in street heat and its best you plan in advance. One passed the security there are various amazing statues busts and paintings to view. But we all know the main attraction is the statue of David, and when you first turn the corner into the room it is literally a wow moment and very breath taking. Despite the obvious busy crowds (try to get an early slot as you can) I found I was still able to get images without major issue and was able to walk around David, even get some seat behind the statue to take it all in. Well worth the ticket price and a highlight of the trip to Italy.

Random U — Google review

Always my favorite place in Florence. So much to do, so much to appreciate cultural speaking that is almost make you feel overwhelmed by so much. So much creativity and intelligence that is hard to digest. So so beautiful and I'm greatfull for be able to visit for a second time, and still not enough time to see all.

Margarita B — Google review

Galleria dell’Accademia di Firenze is a must-visit for anyone in Florence. The star attraction, of course, is Michelangelo's David, and seeing this masterpiece in person is an awe-inspiring experience. The detail and scale of the sculpture are simply breathtaking, and it's amazing to think about the skill and vision that went into its creation.Beyond David, the museum houses a fantastic collection of Renaissance art, including other works by Michelangelo, such as his unfinished Prisoners, which provide fascinating insight into his artistic process. The gallery also features an array of paintings, sculptures, and musical instruments that showcase the richness of Florentine art and culture. The museum is well laid out, with informative displays that enhance your understanding and appreciation of the artworks. It's not overly large, so it's easy to explore without feeling overwhelmed, making it a perfect stop even if you have limited time.

Gevorg N — Google review

Are the lines long? Yes. Is it worth it? 1000%. Make sure to get your tickets ahead of time and come with a ton of patience. Seeing the David and all the other amazing pieces of art makes all the work worthwhile.

Gabriela S — Google review

We accepted a skip-the-line guided tour offer hawked by someone working the two-hour line out front. The guide was knowledgeable and helpful, and it was money well spent. The museum has a modest collection of plaster design molds for sculptures, paintings, and other sculptures -- but it has the David, and that one piece alone is worth the price of admission. We've all seen the photos and the silly aprons and commentary that focus on David's nudity, but spend your time looking at the face. It will move you, and remind you that great sculpture must be seen in person.

Lars H — Google review

Came just to see David but experienced so much more. Went early November so it was the beginning of off season but still busy. We toured with Florence with Elvis and enjoyed the history of the museum and academy.

Jenn H — Google review

This museum is quite small compared to many of the others in Florence. Of course the highlight and indeed the highlight of any museum you can think of, is the statue "David" by Michaelangelo! Truly spectacular! Quite unbelievable in fact that a human being from the early 16th century could bring forth, from raw marble, a work of such a sublime beauty. There are other large paintings and other items, including many plaster works, very unusual, and also a small musical instrument display.Overall, a nice way to spend 90 minutes.

Russell B — Google review

Loved the statue of David. The other sculptures & plaster figures were great, but the majority of the art had no interest to me. I am sure a more cultured individual may rejoice in it's presence but a cursory glance was enough for me

David V — Google review

I went here strictly for the statue of David but found myself amazed at all the other work! So many statues, so many paintings, so much history, I loved it! Definitely get a ticket in advance and get there early because a lot of people will be there. And the statue of David definitely lived up to the hype! The area of the instruments was super cool!

Outlet Barberino, located just north of Florence, is a designer outlet store that resembles a Tuscan village. It features a variety of top brands such as Adidas, Levis, Dolce & Gabbana, Nike, Polo Ralph Lauren, and Tommy Hilfiger. While the discounts may not be as steep as in other outlets, it offers a convenient and enjoyable stopover for fashion enthusiasts on long road trips. The outlet also provides diverse food options and seating areas to relax in the shade.

Viele Grüße aus Leipzig(Translated by Google)This is where you'll love shopping - you'll find everything you need at affordable prices. I found the best deals at Adidas. Everything is very clean and there are enough parasols and benches. The toilets were fine, but the cobwebs and their contents could be swept from the ceiling, otherwise everything was tip top... I think a few more options for eating and drinking would be great. Many greetings from Leipzig

Really nice outlet! The shops façade look like Disney Main Street but in an italian way…There is a creek that runs in the middle. There are some discounts but nothing too crazy. You can find some american brands like GAP, Tommy Hilfiger, Michael Kors, Calvin Klein, Polo Ralph Lauren.

Delfina B — Google review

Good place to go for shopping. You can find brands like D&G, Guess, Ralph Lauren, Fendi… and a what not.Check for the ongoing sale going on. The village was beautifully decorated in Christmas theme… must visit. Recommended.

Sunayana K — Google review

I rate this high because it is one of the most beautiful outlets/malls I have ever visited. With floral installments and a small river flowing through, it was tranquil and a nice contrast to shopping chaos. Lots of designer named stores, plenty of benches and other seating or reading areas. There was covered parking, which was helpful on a hot day.

There is everything here, almost everything but there is not a super or mini market to buy... Water 😭So many people working here, so many visitors and so many tourists

Beautiful malls I've seen. Love the streams of water and peacefulness ..but we went on sun and was supwr crowded with many people. We took a shuttle bus from florence bus hub and they have limited timing to and fro.if they have more bus frequency, that will be great.

Make sure to plan your visit here on a sunny day as this is an open sky mall. This place is huge!!! and you need few good hours to spend here to find what you want. There are many places to eat and drink (not cheep) and Lots of parking space. Be sure your legs are ready to walk a lot...It is very organized, clean and spacious. You can find almost any store you and brand you like, with some time affordable prices and discount, some are not cheep. Personally, i wouldn't come here especially if it is not on my route to somewhere else (as we did). Feels a bit like an american mall by it's size. On the day we were visiting it was quiet empty and we couldn't see many locals there. If you are shopping lover, it is a nice experience :)

Gaia F — Google review

We loved it and also the Tesla Supercharger there. And the small river is soooo cute.

Marco ( — Google review

according to the false advertisement in the Firenze S.M.N. rail station, you will arrive in 30 minutes there. In 30 minutes we didn't even leave the city also because it left late. not to mention that the return times are so bad, it either leaves you too little time for shopping or too much. :) and all this for "just" 13 euros

Vlad I — Google review

This is a complete outlet village built in a tuscan like style dedicated to shopping. You will find almost all famous brands. A lot of sitting spaces outside in the shadow is appreciated when it is hot. To complement , you have some restaurants to eat and drink. Have a bakery and a small commercial center there would be a plus.

Schauen gerne wieder vorbei.(Translated by Google)Very, very nice outlet. Visually a little comparable to Parndorf, but “cozier” because it’s smaller and there’s a lot of greenery. The outlet is designed so that you can walk around to see everything. Although not very large, there is a good selection of shops and plenty of parking. In the morning it was very quiet and not much going on. Feel free to stop by again.

Marco — Google review

Waste of time if you think it’s going to be cheaper! This is no outlet and whilst it is great to see so many good stores in one place their stocks are slim and prices high. There are few places to sit and relax either.

Castle

Sights & Landmarks

Rocchetta Mattei is a restored 19th-century count's castle located in the Bolognese Mountains. Built by Count Cesare Mattei, it boasts a whimsical mix of Moorish, medieval, and Italian architectural styles. Visitors can explore the palace during weekend visits and enjoy concerts, exhibitions, and events. The tour provides interesting and thorough information about the history and architecture of the castle. However, some visitors feel that the guided tour is too short and strictly timed.

Fascinating guided tour. Wonderful history lesson. Arrive early to beat the crowds. A shout out to Guilia, the best tour guide ever!

It’s an interesting tour, especially if Alessandra is your guide! She makes the whole visit a great experience.Keep in mind you need to book in advance, and it is open only during the weekends (at least for now).

Very Unique, interesting story and beautiful castle. Nature universe inspired design. Highly recommend to visit.

Hitomate P — Google review

Very interesting and beautiful castle. Easy to get to with free parking. The price is inclusive of a tour in Italien and an Audio Guide in English, German, French.Recommend if you are interested in architecture and modern versions of oriental mixes. However, I feel like the audio guides could be expanded a bit, as the tour guide seemed to give much more information.

Louis S — Google review

Beautiful architecture and a splendid collection of old musical instruments. All visits are guided, helping a lot in understanding the incredible and mysterious history of the place. Highly recommended.

Francine M — Google review

Such a fascinating place and history! I loved the ancient jukebox and all other automatic-music instruments.I look forward to visiting again after the full refurbishment in 2026!Because we were too early for the tour we booked, we drove a couple of km south and after a bridge we parked in a local park with access to the river. Great spot to kill an hour or more. A grocery store is just near. Perfect for a picnic.NB: the tour is in Italian only but there's an app and static boards in each room with English translations.

Elisa P — Google review

A beautiful, masmarising palazzo. The 4/5 are due to visits enabled only with a tourguide and tickets must be booked weeks prior. The info given on the tour was interesting and thorough, with that said, it was laconic and a bit too short (1 h) and very strictly timed in order to avoid laps with other groups.. therfore no time was given to immerse in the scenery of each spot, it was stop-losten-go to next stop sort of tour... the experience could have been more powerful and worthwhile with more time and a more interactive, mindful tourguide.

Galia K — Google review

Stunning and unusual castle, 1h train ride from Bologna. The guided tour was in Italian, but the guide was very helpful and answered all the questions we had. It was my second visit and I'm looking forward to coming back in 2026 when the rest of the castle will be open for public.

Located in the outskirts of the metropolitan city of Bologna in the little town of Riola. Amazing views and a truly magnificent structure ritch with history and interesting backstories about it's founder and tenet. A place not to miss if you happen to have some time on your hands and want to explore places around Bologna. Easily accessible by train or by car. If you happen to chose the train you can easily get one from Bologna Central station, you then need to get off at Riola station from which the Rocchetta is just a few minutes by foot up a hill (not too steep).

Marco M — Google review

Visually stimulating place in a beautiful locale, with bizarre, fantastical architecture. Be warned though; Unless you want to walk up a long, narrow country road up hill in the sun, you are intirely at the mercy of a bus service that stops about 3 times a day and not at any time that aligners with the castle's admission hours. There is also nowhere to wait once you are up there. Again, the actual place is very interesting but, unless you have a car, you NEED to plan in advance or risk bring stranded in the middle of nowhere.

Specialty Museums

The Museo Ferrari is a museum that celebrates the Ferrari sports car marque and the Italian motor racing industry. The collection comprises cars, trophies, photographs and other historical artifacts related to racing and technological innovations that have influenced road cars. Located close to the Ferrari factory in Maranello near Modena, Italy, this museum opened in 1990. The exhibitions offer an interactive experience with a focus on the history of Ferrari and its contribution to motorsport engineering.

So amazing to see these beautiful art in person. The history is great for Ferrari. Lots of exhibits to experience. At the end there are picture options as well as a simulation to drive the cars which is so cool. The tour takes about 1 hour.

Chelsea C — Google review

The Ferrari Museum in Maranello is a must-visit for any car enthusiast! The exhibits are stunning, showcasing the rich history and evolution of Ferrari cars. The interactive displays and classic models are both educational and exciting. The entire experience was well worth the visit. Highly recommend it!

Sanjee R — Google review

If you like cars this is fantastic to see the history of the cars over time of one of the most legendary performance brands out there. I gave it a 4 because it's a bit pricey for a museum that is a self-guided tour. They are proud of their brand in the gift store. A keychain starts at 40€

Jason M — Google review

For sports car enthusiasts and Ferrari fans, it will be a very nice experience. On the other hand, I can't shake the impression that the museum doesn't offer much for the price. You will see the most iconic cars from Ferrari, but I would have expected a bit more. The shop at the end of the tour is really overpriced. For those interested, I recommend buying tickets online.

Ondřej V — Google review

To be honest, I was very disappointed. The entry fee is waaaay too high. It’s 27€, and the museum is pretty small. So it takes you maximum 30mins to see every single car in there.Yes, they have all the important Ferraris like F40, F50, Enzo, LaFerrari, but for this price this was not enough. Also every single item in the shop is absolutely overpriced (like a fridge magnet for 45€).

Florian F — Google review

Visiting the Ferrari Museum in Maranello was a very nice experience. The exhibits are impressive and provide a deep dive into the brand’s legendary history. One convenient tip: you don’t need to use the official parking, which is a bit far from the entrance. There are plenty of parking spaces available closer to the museum, making your visit even more hassle-free. Highly recommended for car enthusiasts and casual visitors alike!

Alina G — Google review

Nice place to visit.Price for entry is high, that's the monopoly they have I guess. One of a kind museum. Love to see the cars and read about the history. For some extra money (€30) you can do some things like drive a simulator, take a picture in a car. It's a lot of money you can spend on Ferrari without owning one🤣.If your money isn't gone you can spend some I the merchandise shop.I love to see the cars, think they are fabulous. A big boys dream! But the museum good be better. Dust the cars, take fatty fingers of, etc. Maybe some open doors to look at interior. And more cars, more cars, more cars.

Willem D — Google review

Simply a must for any fan of motor racing visiting Fiorano / Maranello! The museum is well organized and gives a great insight of the history of the company, as well as its many achievements in motor racing. It's an amazing experience! My tip after visiting the museum is to go down the road to have a look at the Ferrari factory and the infamous brick wall entrance.

Lucie P — Google review

Visited the museum with my car-loving son. The cars are impressive, but the overall experience is underwhelming. It’s a short visit (20-30 mins), and staff seem more focused on enforcing rules than engaging with visitors. Extras and the gift shop are pricey, making it feel less worth the cost. Not bad, but not worth a long trip—3 ⭐️

Simon A — Google review

Well worth a visit for any car enthusiast (and small boy/girl!!) The museum is very extensive with many examples of Ferrari cars from across the ages. The write up about all the cars is interesting with information in English and Italian, giving an insight in to the Ferrari ethos and ideas. Good value tickets, especially when a train travel discount is applied (see their website!). Shuttle bus from Modena station is convenient and fair value. Only downside is the gift shop is expensive - few low cost items for your little car enthusiast to buy with their pocket money.

Jamie F — Google review

Well organised, large spaces, free shuttle from free parking nearby. Has cafe on siteI don’t think €27 is justified for this museum. Only worth if you are really into racing and racing cars.Lamborghini museum although much smaller, was nicer

Natalie M — Google review

A great spot for anyone who loves history and cars. The simulator at the end of the tour is totally worth the price. Perfect for families with kids. If you’re visiting Italy, this is definitely a must-see stop on the map. Totally worth it, no question! :D

Karol Y — Google review

Great place for car enthusiasts and particularly Ferrari fans. Museum showcasing the history of the brand, some old cars and of course the modern supercars with a section devoted to the formula 1 cars over the years. Really enjoyed it. My son also went on the simulator which was worth the extra money. Definitely recommend

Kellie H — Google review

Nice museum but expect a big crowd. Book online and avoid the huge queue. Not that many cars on display as you would expect but covers the most important models and moments from Ferrari's history, both street and F1. Accessible by bus from Modena train station, with change at Modena central bus station.

Adrian — Google review

Pretty costly but very nice to do with the kids, especially if you like Formula 1. Not many cars but nice ones. The victory room is special but there is very little in the way of interactive entertainment. A picture behind the wheel is nice but waiting over an hour for tours and simulators is not helpful.

R B — Google review

Amazing!! It’s a must go for car enthusiasts. It’s kinda pricey but if you really do like cars and formula 1 you will like this. Had a great time there. There’s a parking right in front of it so we parked our car there with no issue. We bought our tickets there and only had to wait around 5-10 minutes in the line.

Vanessa M — Google review

For those who hold Ferrari close to their heart, this is a must-visit place. I had been planning to visit for a long time, and now it has finally happened. An excellent museum! You can see all kinds of Ferrari models, the exhibition is great, and there's even a simulator, so overall, it's an amazing experience. I recommend the combined ticket, which also grants entry to the museum in Modena. Additionally, it's worth paying for the factory tour as well, it's definitely worth the price. It was fantastic, I really enjoyed it. Thank you for the experience! Forza Ferrari!

Balázs G — Google review

This museum is a car lovers dream. They have so many models and share the history through interesting stories. Entertainment for adults and children although you can not touch the models. There is a simulator experience, shuttle to the other museum, and test drive places outside.

Nia, G — Google review

Car enthusiast or not, you'll love one of the most respected car companies in the world. The blend of elegance and power is what makes Ferrari so beautiful. There are two museums but we only did this one. Parking is limited but there is a parking lot about a half a mile away. However, they do offer a free shuttle every 15 minutes.

Juan R — Google review

Of course it is awesome to see Ferrari cars that you are not used to as a motor sports fan. But this museum is totally overpriced for what it offers. 27€ for barely two floors and then if you want to go on the simulator or a photo inside the car it’s extra 30€/20€.The shop in the end is also crazy overpriced. If you have been to the Porsche or Mercedes museums in Stuttgart, this one here will disappoint you even more. These other two museums are around half of the price and waaaay bigger.

Gabriella B — Google review

Museum is nice, you can see excellent cars.Do not waste money for panoramic tour in Ferrari factory. You are not allowed to get of a bus. Tour will take you among the factory buildings and they will tell you, what is inside the building. Nothing else. You will see NOTHING from the car production process..I recommend to book the tickets online, as you will skip the queue at the entrance.

Jan G — Google review

I have to share the amazing experience we had during our visit to the Ferrari factory! From start to finish, Ferrari goes above and beyond to captivate both children and adults, turning the tour into an unforgettable adventure. The entire day was filled with excitement and inspiration. Ferrari has mastered the art of making their brand accessible and thrilling for everyone. They instill a passion for cars in kids and rekindle it in adults. The tour was not just a visit; it was a journey through the history, craftsmanship, and innovation that makes Ferrari legendary. We spent half a day exploring, learning, and truly experiencing what makes Ferrari special. The staff were knowledgeable and enthusiastic, and every detail of the tour was designed to ignite our love for cars. It's clear that Ferrari cares about their fans and wants to inspire the next generation of car enthusiasts. If you're a car lover, a visit to the Ferrari factory is a must. It's an experience that leaves you with memories and a renewed passion for the automotive world.

Cathedral

Sights & Landmarks

Duomo di Modena is a cathedral in Modena, Emilia-Romagna, Italy. It is renowned for its striking Romanesque architecture, including a bell tower and rose window. The cathedral is also renowned for its elaborate bas-relief carvings, some of which are still in place.

Beautiful church in the heart of Modena. It's for free and it looks stunning. It's a Gothic architecture and it's unique. I recommend it to everyone visiting Modena!

Mateusz G — Google review

I’ve been to too many cathedral around Italy, but you must not miss this. Built in 1099, a UNESCO heritage with extensive, intricate interior. I would suggest visiting during the weekend afternoon (1pm) as there’s someone singing like a service and it’s so mesmerising.

Lee W — Google review

This is part of Unesco world heritage. Built almost 1000 years ago, it has a very special architecture, with all the arches inside and the external basoreliefs. Beautiful!

Cristi — Google review

Visited as part of my unesco heritage sites tour. This UNESCO World Heritage site, completed in the 12th century, is a masterpiece of Romanesque architecture. The exterior's intricate sculptures and the interior's beautiful frescoes and stunning rose window are truly captivating. It wasn't too crowded, allowing for a peaceful and reflective experience. I think thus cathedral is very special because its white facade and tower very memorable. Also the architecture within is lovely.

Anthony C — Google review

Beautiful architecture, not too crowded (visited in april 2023) and charming as whole Modena is.

Aljosa T — Google review

Beautiful gothic architecture right in the heart of Modena. Its nearly 1000 years old, making it one of the oldest Catholic churches in the world. It's decorative both inside and out and truly has a Romanesque feel with thr columns and stone used inside. The Crypt is beautiful and made sure you walk to the front of the stairs and walk the few stairs to admire this amazing architectural beauty in all her glory.A must visit when in Modena.

Samantha P — Google review

A truly atmospheric romanesque cathedral with lots of important artworks both inside and outside. An outstanding church in an outstanding town.

Carl H — Google review

Beautiful Romanesque cathedral, with numerous small details to find. Free entrance.

Zsolt V — Google review

Wasn't in my plans, but what I would have missed🥰🥰🥰 It's probably the most beautiful Romanesque cathedral in Italy, second only to Duomo di Monreale... Staggeringly gorgeous both inside and outside: would rate it 15/10😍

Lucian P — Google review

This is an impressive building with a very unique architecture, which may be related to the epoch it was built in (construction started at around 1099 if I remember correctly).

Benjamin B — Google review

Beautiful structure in a very pretty square.

A S — Google review

A masterpiece in the Romanesque style, the Cathedral was built by the architect Lanfranco on the site of the tomb of Saint Geminiano, the patron saint of Modena, the saint's relics are inside the cathedral.

Luciana T — Google review

It is the central church in Modena. Very nicely done and a lively place. The entry to the Duomo is free but there is a tower beside where you can visit paying 2 Euros. I haven't been there but what I heard from friends is that place is worth a visit if you are okay to go up quite some stairs. You get a better view of Modena from the top.

Mannil M — Google review

Modena Cathedral is a breathtakingly beautiful masterpiece of medieval architecture! This stunning cathedral, also known as the Duomo di Modena, is a must-visit attraction in the heart of Modena. Its striking facade, adorned with intricate stone carvings and statues, is a work of art in itself. The interior is equally impressive, with soaring vaulted ceilings, stunning stained glass windows, and a peaceful atmosphere that invites contemplation. The cathedral's history and significance are palpable, and the adjacent Torre Civica offers panoramic views of the city.Don't miss the adjacent Piazza Grande, a charming square filled with cafes and local life.

AK A — Google review

Amazing architectural wonde in the heart of Modena. The construction and detailing are great. It's for free and it looks stunning. It's a Gothic architecture and it's unique. I recommend it to everyone visiting Modena!

Modena is famous for its military academy founded in 1678.Previously, the 9 June 1099 started the construction of the cathedral, now in the UNESCO heritage. The last significant changes date back to the 15th century. The remains of San Geminiano are kept in the crypt; the main square is strangely located at the side of the church.

Fabio R — Google review

Duomo not to be missed, inside is very nice with several things to see, especially the Crypt and the altar and above wonderful paintings !!

Keith M — Google review

It is very impressive inside. Recommended for viewing.

Péter T — Google review

Beautiful square Unesco preserved right in the centre of town

Emmanouel A — Google review

One of the symbols of the city and a place you must visit if you are in Modena. The whole square looks beautiful!

Sveto R — Google review

I was lucky enough to attend an evening Mass, and the choir's voices echoed through the vaulted ceilings in the most magical way.Be sure to take a moment to admire the magnificent terracotta group sculpted by Modena-born artist Guido Mazzoni—it's truly captivating, and hard to look away from.In the cathedral's crypt, the remains of the city's patron saint, Saint Geminianus (Geminiano di Modena), are preserved. Saint Geminianus, a 4th-century bishop of Modena, is known for his protection of the city during times of invasion. The absolutely stunning Romanesque cathedral (construction began in 1099) is a must-see.

Museum

Gift shop

The Enzo Ferrari Museum, located not far from the city center, is a futuristic glass-walled building that showcases the life and work of Enzo Ferrari. The museum features multimedia exhibits, an art gallery, and an extensive collection of iconic racing cars. Visitors can also experience semi-professional simulators to get a feel for driving a Prancing Horse F1 single-seater on famous tracks like Monza and Silverstone.

I great museum. It looks small from the outside but is very large. I would highly recommend this to any car fan!

Christopher B — Google review

Great experience, right in the house where Enzo Ferrari was born. The museum is not so big, but full of cars and memorabilia.I put 4 stars because 22€ is too much for a less than 1h visit. For 30€ you can purchase tickets for both museums (instead than 44€).Cafeteria and bathroom available.

Pier W — Google review

It is a very nice museum. Our 5 year old enjoyed it. It is bigger than the Lamborghini museum and more to explore, but like I said for the Lamborghini one, these museums are missing the interactive part to make it more interesting for kids, as it can get boring for them because they can't touch anything. The museum is very nicely planned and there are two sections that you can visit with one ticket. We bought the tickets on the spot and it wasn't busy at all. The gift shop doesn't have any toys, only they collectibles, which was a bummer. They have a small coffee shop with really good coffee and snacks and not expensive at all.

Georgiana A — Google review

I personally don’t like this stuff, but it was definitely worth it.It’s actually really interesting and nicely done.Children loved it and so did I.It’s awesome atmosphere and a lot of cars.Parking is cheap, entry fee is a little high but worth it.

Aljosa S — Google review

I wasn't a big fan of cars, but this place made a huge impression on me. I became a huge fan :))) this museum is fantastic and a must-visit in Modena. The cars are spectacular, shiny, standing under a beautiful, modern dome. Truly, as a woman, I was delighted.

Agnieszka R — Google review

This is an absolute must for anyone visiting Italy. The tribute to Enzo Ferrari is such an incredible combination of history and present day and the architecture outstanding. Set in Modena Italy it’s an easy day trip on the train. The car displays were next level and captions were in Italian and English. Make sure you also check out the historic side with Enzo’s birthplace house that was his father’s workshop featuring so much relevant information. Well done!

Kerry H — Google review

Nice Ferraris and more space and people than Lamborghini museum. The gift shop is expensive and they try to get everything out of you AT A COST. Find for my young adult children but a little overdone. Two people did the simulator for 30 Euros each and said worth it for 7 minute felt like 20 minutes. The control panel close to F1

Mukesh B — Google review

If you like the brand, this will be somewhat of pilgrimage. You can get a discount if you travelled by train. Full price tickets too expensive for a relatively small museum. Gift shop is eye wateringly pricy. Staff friendly and spoke good English. Easy to walk to from Modena train station.

A S — Google review

Crazy overpriced. I had read that it was 17 euros per adult and thought that was borderline, only to turn up today and find entrance is now 27 euros. If you love cars/Ferrari I'm sure it's worth every euro. If not seems seriously overpriced for 15 odd cars, about 45 mins in total.

Peter K — Google review

A very worthwhile place to visit if you're in the area. We travelled an easy 30 minutes by train from Bologna and the museum is a short 7 minute walk from Modena station.

Ali B — Google review

This place is really beautiful. This is the second time I go this year and it is incredible the amount of new cars they had compared from the first time I went. It’s like the switched the collection. Not sure if I got lucky, but what a wonderful experience. Highly recommended.

Denny A — Google review

The Enzo Ferrari Museum in Modena is an absolute must-see for all ages. The collection of cars is nothing short of spectacular—each one a "wow" moment that showcases the artistry and innovation of Ferrari. The exhibits are beautifully presented, making it an engaging experience for everyone, whether you're a car enthusiast or just curious. I highly recommend visiting this museum; it's a fascinating journey through automotive history that you won't want to miss!

Alina G — Google review

Nice museum with the nice cars. Video of Ferrari's history was excellent and gives more information. Additional motor museum was nice and especially F1 motors development and size improvement shown nicely.

Kaija L — Google review

Some nice cars and the historical value of the location is great… but other than that very underwhelming. You can be in and out in 20 minutes. Tickets should’ve been 15 top. They are 27…

Steven S — Google review

The museum somehow disappointed, I expected more from it. Just a few historic cars in a small hall, only 330P4 was worth a visit for me, no F40, no 250GTO, Testa Rossa, no other Lemans, Daytona famous cars. And a bus to Maranello only goes twice a day from there, for 12 eur per person, so I had to skip it. For a 32 eur ticket I certainly expected more.

Kamran A — Google review

Not worth the money. I can't understand why pay 27€ to see 17 cars, when you can probably see more Ferraris one august night in Monte-Carlo!? Or Cannes...or even Bucharest!? I expected to have something included in this price (like some pastry and coffee- tip for the rich owner!), but no! So go your way and stop putting more money in some already full pockets! Look at the pictures!

Anca A — Google review

Date of visit: May 2024Great experience! I'm not a big fan of motorisation, but I enjoyed every minute in this museum. You can get to know the history of Ferrari, not only from an engineering and sports perspective but also understand why it became the icon of design. It costs 27€ but it is totally worth it.

Amadeusz R — Google review

A must for anyone that is a petrol head or not. Beautiful collection of machines in once was Enzo’s place. Very easy to get to from Modena station. 10 min walk.

Richard G — Google review

Your visit to Modena should start here by getting to know the life and achievements of Il Commendatore Enzo Ferrari. The museum is a short walk from the Modena train station and features several remarkable Ferrari automobiles both past and present. Got to see the unique Testarossa made famous by the TV show Miami Vice in here. A “Don’t Miss It” stop here in Modena

Mark G — Google review

One of the two famous Ferrari museums in Italy. This one is much smaller and you can visit it in less than an hour. It's definitely cool to see the museum and see the models of the famous Ferrari up close throughout history. However, the entrance fee of 32e is too high in my opinion because the museum is really small (and their shop is not cheap either), possibly if you go to the bigger museum in Marinelo and get a package of tickets (and you can do that already here) it can be worth it.

Sveto R — Google review

Highly recommend it! It's quite a small museum but perfect as it had a bit of everything. It was more historic than the one in Maranello, demonstrating the history of Ferrari. We arrived quite early so it wasn't very busy and there was no wait time to buy our tickets. The price was reduced because we used the train to arrive in Modena from Parma (train ticket needs to be shown).I believe that the museum got recently refurbished and upon entering a beautiful video projection about Enzo Ferrari's life and legacy was shown on the museum walls. It was amazing.

Sights & Landmarks

Piazza Maggiore is a large and beautiful square in the heart of the old town of Bologna, Italy. The square is surrounded by some of the most important medieval and Renaissance buildings in the city, including Palazzo del Podesta, Palazzo dAccursio, Palazzo dei Notai, Basilica of San Petronio and Palazzo dei Banchi.

Simply beautiful! Nice open square with some signing and some performing! Right inferring of the basilica.

Beautiful square with amazing history and an amazing cathedral. Someone lost their mind's though placing modern advertising billboards all along the entrance.Really, did the city really need them?

Donald P — Google review

I really enjoyed visiting this piazza maggiore, there’s lots to do and see in and around this area. It’s very lively day and nighttime. It’s very well lit during the nighttime and is a nice place to hang out in the evening. You can visit the museums, sites and churches during the day. There are lots of nice little shops and restaurants to explore. I really enjoyed my time here and I would definitely recommend checking out this piazza.

Pong L — Google review

I didn’t think I would like Bologna so much!!! I lived in Rome for many years and I transited Bologna many times, but didn’t have the chance to visit its medieval center. It looks really great!I love the guys playing different instruments. One was playing piano and another one was playing the electric guitar.

A vibrant plaza in the center of Bologna. There are so many churches, attractions, stores, restaurants, and gelaterias in the area. All the streets around the plaza are beautiful, so just walking around is impressive already. Venturing down the side streets leads to many drinking and dining options. Even in mid August, the plaza wasn't terribly crowded (it was very hot, however). Highly recommend a visit.

loved spending time at Piazza Maggiore in Bologna. This historic square, dating back to the 13th century, is the heart of the city. Sometimes has events such as live cinema shows

Great central spot to soak in Bologna’s vibe! Piazza Maggiore is right in the heart of the city, surrounded by historic buildings that date back to the Middle Ages. You’ll find yourself surrounded by landmarks like the Basilica di San Petronio and the Palazzo dei Banchi. It’s a lively square where locals and visitors gather, and there’s always something to see, whether it’s street performers or a local event. Perfect place to start exploring Bologna or just to sit back and people-watch.

I did a free walking tour starting at Piazza Maggiore. If you get a chance to tour, you will find out great information about the piazza as well as the surrounding areas! If you have a budget, Google the " free walking tour" and enter "Bologna". The tour is tip-based if you enjoy your tour and tour guide as much as I did you can tip more.

This is literally the heart of Bologna. Amazing shows and open air cinema with many international movies all summer long and many other events that happens in the winter time. Very safe very organized. Watched soMany good movies during the summer and saw good buskers and loud and bad ones. But Bologna’s heart is definitely always beating through this square.

Phanendra D — Google review

What a difference Piazza Maggiore during the rain or in nice weather. And especially during liberation day!! People are cheerful so there is a lot of noise everywhere, or as in the video below, they express their cheerfulness by dancing. If you prefer smaller, quieter squares, go to Piazza Santo Stefano. On this Piazza you can enjoy the buildings, their impressions, the people coming and going, the musicians playing amplified, the tourist train that leaves from here and the terraces. Yes Piazza Maggiore has it all!!

Church

The square is located in the center of Bologna and it has a beautiful basilica, which is actually a complex of seven religious buildings. This square is perfect for a picturesque afternoon, as you can admire the Basilica of Santo Stefano from afar while sipping on your favourite drink.

Really amazing! Quite a surprise inside- not what one expects in an Italian church. Seemed much more of a 15th century style and just a maze of rooms that the outside belied. Beautiful stonework, unique features, great museum with amazing religious artifacts. Worth a visit. And at night concerts are featured outside on the small piazza in front of it.

Yvette S — Google review

We have visited on a Sunday and to our surprise there was an antique market taking place. The square was busy and is surrounded with cafe's, restaurants and the famous Santo Stefano known as the seven churches as there so many buildings joined together.

One of the places that I most like in Bologna.. when I first saw the church .. I thought: ok nothing special , but I was really impressed when I got into the church to find out that there are 7 churches located together in the piazza !!The yard has its own magic .. I so enjoy having coffees, cocktails and ICE cream there !!Live Bologna and feel its spirit in the amazing piazza Santo Stefano!!

This square is an important part of the old area of Bologna. Also when I visited there, on the weekend, there was a local market there. That was too attractive.

Paria — Google review

The sumptuous monumental complex of S. Stefano is made up of 7 churches dating back to the early Christian era built to house a suggestive journey of inner purification which symbolically refers to the sacred places of the Holy Land. Due to its antiquity and the artistic value of the treasures preserved there, the site certainly deserves an in-depth and comprehensive visit to the splendid Piazza S. Stefano, as elegant as it is picturesque, as well as Corte Isolani which forms the backdrop.

Stefano T — Google review

Piazza Santo Stefano was a great place to walk around and eat. It was a lovely public square

Andreas B — Google review

Jose A — Google review

A square by one of the most important historical sites in town with several restaurants and cafes good for dining or an afternoon aperitivo.

Silvia S — Google review

A bit of a 3-angled square. Not as big and not as busy as Piazza Maggiore, but just as charming and atmospheric. If you want to people watch, sit down at the catering facility on the left of the Piazza and have a Spritz. Enjoy the sun, the people walking by and life is good. By the way, it can take up to half an hour before you are helped here. People look but see little. Not ideal for the catering industry. But hey, things are going well anyway, so why try harder, people seem to think here.

Andre — Google review

Beautiful Piazza where the story of the 7 churches comes from. Nice place to eat from a selection of places around and visit the churches (church 😳) at the end.

Gavin — Google review

There are some restaurants around the piazza and they are nice

Charming little public square in the historic city centre of Bologna. This is where you find the complex of seven churches known as Basilica Santo Stefano in addition to portico lined buildings with casual eateries, wine bars, gelato and a few retail shops. It is a quaint location in Bologna that is worth spending some time during visits to the city.

Points of Interest & Landmarks

The Two Towers, also known as the Leaning Tower of Bologna, is a medieval leaning tower located in Bologna, Italy. The tower is composed of two separate towers connected by a walkway and has an incline of 10%. The tower offers incredible views over the cityscape. You will need to book a ticket in advance and climb quite a few steps to get close to the top.

It is worth to climb the almost 500 steps to the top, however the way up could become a bit of a “scary” experience for some. The views from the top are spectacular, it is very interesting to discover that it is a hollow shell of a height of 100 meters. Beautiful landmark.

Jorge . — Google review

Two impressive, given their age, medieval towers in the center of Bologna. However, we didn't spend more than 5 mins looking around. They were supported and the slope of one of them is a bit scary!

Lila M — Google review

Two lovely medieval towers in the center of Bologna. They're quite impressive given their age. However, we didn't spend more than 10 mins looking around and taking some photos. The towers are heavily supported and they're in the middle of town, so quite concealed, as opposed to Pisa's tower that is in the open and far more impressive looks wise.I wouldn't get to Bologna just for that.

Guy G — Google review

5 stars for the view from the top, also the online ticketing service comes in handy since you don’t have to wait in line. The support beams for the stairs inside don’t look very..supportive though especially when there are dozens of people on them on the same time. Visits are every 15m and groups need to wait each other to pass between floors.

Szerg08 — Google review

Both towers during our visit were under maintenance, and we couldn't climb up, but it was still impressive to see them as that is a major symbol in Bologna, given that there were build in Middle years.

Angela O — Google review

The Two Towers are landmark medieval structures that represent an iconic symbol of the city of Bologna. Unfortunately, Garisenda is leaning so much and is bad enough condition now that the city has closed off visiting both towers for emergency restorations and efforts to save the 12th-century tower from collapsing.Sadly, you can't visit Asinelli Tower as well now due to safety concerns related to restorations of Garisenda. During normal times you can walk up to the rooftop and see 360 degree views of Bologna. Seems from the city website, repair works will probably take around 10 years so it will likely be a long time before this is possible to experience again. So just enjoy seeing the towers as you walk by at street level for now.

Brad — Google review

It is a great pity that the tower is not allowed to enter because it is undergoing reconstruction. Otherwise an interesting place.

The site is closed.Considering the smallest tower, it doesn't inspire confidence when going up 😅 it's even more leaning than the Tower of Pisa!!!

Sha S — Google review

Bemerkenswerte Türme, welche vielerorts schon von weitem zu sehen sind. Einer steht unglaublich schräg und erweckt je nach Blickwinkel einen fast gruseligen Eindruck.(Translated by Google)Remarkable towers that can be seen from afar in many places. One is incredibly slanted and, depending on the angle, creates an almost creepy impression.

Francine B — Google review

One of the biggest attractions in Italy. Very beautiful! I definitely would recommended everybody to visit this. The truth historical landmark!

Relja G — Google review

Distinctive part of Bologna's skyline. They're currently being stabilized and soyou can't climb them anymore

Paul H — Google review

The towers are leaning a lot! Impressive view, but with high fences so only visible from a few angles.

Bas — Google review

This was a great experience and one I can say I’ve done. If you do have any health/breathing issues then I’d be careful, there is nearly 500 stairs , all of which are different and extremely steep/awkward. Take your time and stop at the various points along the way ! Great view if the weather is clear I can imagine , a must do if you’re visiting to say you’ve done it.

Donkey 1 — Google review

Ok. Schwierig etwas über 2 riesen schiefe Türme zu sagen. Wenn man aber bedenkt, dass es vor hunderten Jahren über hunderte solcher Türme gab, sieht man sie ganz anders an. Dazu sollte man Bologna mal googeln. Auf jedenfall sehenswert! Wie übrigens ganz Bologna.(Translated by Google)OK. Difficult to say anything about two giant leaning towers. But when you consider that there were hundreds of towers like this hundreds of years ago, you look at them completely differently. You should google Bologna. Definitely worth seeing! Like all of Bologna, by the way.

We went to this landmark earlier in the year and the view at the top was amazing. It is the highest point you can get to in the city; you can see around for miles. However it does take a while to go up the many, many stairs - as there is only one staircase to go up and down. I would recommend this if you have lots of time in Bologna and are not afraid of heights!

TheTwo Towers(Italian:Due torri), both leaning, are symbols ofBologna, Italy,[1]and the most prominent of theTowers of Bologna. They are located at the intersection of the roads that lead to the five gates of the old ring wall (mura dei torresotti). The taller one is called theAsinelli. The smaller tower with a greater lean is called theGarisenda. Their names derive from the families which are traditionally credited with having constructed the towers between 1109 and 1119

Seyyah G — Google review

Unfortunately the towers have recently been closed due to safety reasons. So now you can only admire from the street. They are beautiful though and hopefully they can be restored so people can walk up them again. They are fun though and are slightly leaning. Great view from the street.

Really enjoyed this. For €5 you can’t beat it.I did the 10am (first) entry. Was super quick. In and out in 20 minutes. Definitely not accessible.I think the first tour is the best because the stairs are narrow and you have people traversing both ways. Whereas the first tour you go up and no one is attempting to come down. Look through the holes in the stone - they are great view points from the stairs.Buy tickets online in advance - they limit the amount of people every 15 minutes.

Pretty affordable experience in Bologna with good views of the city. I definitely like their reservation system. Didn't feel crowded and didn't have to wait but you do need to book in advance (we were able to book the day of a few hours before). Some of the stairs didn't feel like they were a perfect 90 degrees and some were differently spaced than others, so do use caution. The walk up also seemed much quicker than we thought it would be.

TheTwo Towers(Italian:Le due torri), both leaning, are symbols ofBologna, Italy,[1]and the most prominent of theTowers of Bologna. They are located at the intersection of the roads that lead to the five gates of the old ring wall (mura dei torresotti). The taller one is called theAsinelli. The smaller tower with a greater lean is called theGarisenda. Their names derive from the families which are traditionally credited with having constructed the towers between 1109 and 1119.Their construction may have been a competition between the two families to show which was the more powerful family.[3][4]The scarcity of documents from this early period makes this uncertain. The name of the Asinelli family, for example, is documented for the first time in 1185, almost 70 years after the presumed construction of the tower which is attributed to them.Asinelli TowerInside the Asinelli TowerIt is believed that the Asinelli Tower initially had a height of ca. 70 metres (230 feet) and was raised later to the current 97.2 metres (319ft), with an overhanging battlement of 2.2 m (6.6 ft). In the 14th century the city became its owner and used it as a prison and small stronghold.During this period a wooden construction was added around the tower at a height of roughly 30 metres, about 100 feet, above ground, which was connected with an aerial footbridge to the Garisenda Tower. The footbridge was destroyed in a 1398 fire. Its addition is attributed toGiovanni Visconti,Duke of Milan, who allegedly wanted to use it to control the turbulentMercato di Mezzo, the central street, today the via Rizzoli, to suppress possible revolts. TheViscontihad become the rulers of Bologna after the decline of theSignoriaof thePepolifamily, but were rather unpopular in the city.Severe damage was caused by lightning that often resulted in small fires and collapses. In 1824 alightning rodwas installed. The tower has survived at least two documented large fires: the first in 1185 was due toarsonand a second one in 1398.The Asinelli Tower was used by the scientistsGiovanni Battista Riccioliin 1640 andGiovanni Battista Guglielminiin the 1700s for experiments to study the motion ofheavy bodiesand theEarth's rotation. InWorld War II, between 1943 and 1945, it was used as a sight post: During bombing attacks, four volunteers took post at the top to direct rescue operations, to places hit byAlliedbombs. Later, aRAItelevision relay was installed on top.Garisenda TowerA view of Torre della Garisenda and Chiesa dei Santi Bartolomeo e Gaetano from Torre degli AsinelliThe Garisenda Tower today has a height of 48 metres (157 feet), with an overhang of 3.2 metres (10ft). Initially, it was approximately 60 metres (about 200 feet) high, but had to be lowered in the 14th century due to a yielding of the ground which left it slanting and dangerous.[5]In the early 15th century, the tower was bought by theArte dei Drappieri, which remained the sole owner until theGarisendabecame municipal property at the end of the 19th century. It was cited several times byDantein theDivine ComedyandThe Rhymes, a confirmation of his stay in Bologna,[1]and byGoethein hisItalian Journey. The Two Towers were the subject of aneponymouspoem byGiosuè Carduccias part of theBarbarian Odes. Charles Dickens wrote about the towers in hisPictures from Italy.[6]Antal Szerbwrote about them inThe Third Tower: Journeys in Italy.[7]In October 2023, the tower was sealed off by the city of Bologna after fears the structure was tilting too far.[8]Bologna officials noted that the tower has leaned since it was built “and has been a concern ever since.” It sustained additional damage in the medieval era when ironwork and bakery ovens were built inside.[9]The tower is monitored for cracks. Sensors have been installed to track any shifting. On 2 December 2023, the city announced the situation was critical, and the tower could collapse. The city began constructing a 5 metre tall barrier to contain the debris in the event of a fall.

The most famous symbol of Bologna! It looks impressive, unfortunately at the time of our visit it was closed and fenced due to ongoing works (August 2024).

Sveto R — Google review

Going up the towers was a tough climb!!! The higher you go the narrower it gets!!! But the view is worth it!!!!

Paul G — Google review

The top of the remaining towers in Bologna. There used to be lots of them but none of them lasted so long. The leaning is quite dangerous though. I hope they'll manage to stabilise it as the one in Pisa, for it is just as tilted if not more, but time will tell. So don't go buying tickets - you can't enter, but you can at least walk around them.

Castle

Sights & Landmarks

The Castle Estense, also known as the Castle of Saint Michele, is an imposing 14th-century moated fortress located in the heart of Ferrara. Originally built by the Este family as protection against citizen revolts, over time it became a luxurious residential palace with stunning features such as marble balconies and a Renaissance-style courtyard. Nowadays, visitors can access almost all areas of the castle to admire its opulence and explore its history.

This is in the centre of Ferrara and still retains its moat and its 16th century appearance. It is actually a huge castle/palace that was the seat for the Dukes of Ferrara for two hundred years and was then the seat of the Papal Legate for another three hundred. We crossed the drawbridge and paid the €10 entrance although I got the 48 hour museum pass for €20 which gave me access to 10 city museums. The first thing we noticed in the castle was the magnificent painted ceilings, not in every room but quite a few. They varied in style from frescoes to whatever you call painting inside a wooden framework of ceiling beams. The dungeons were impressive too, definitely a style I would bring back in for repeat or serious offenders! We climbed the stairs and saw the wonderful citrus garden on the terrace, designed by Eleanor of Aragon to remind her of Naples. This had great views over the moat but I messed those photos up.Deb then sat and chilled whilst I climbed the Lion's Tower. I don't think I have ever hated vertigo more as it is such a stupidly irrational think but just so powerful. The steps were like metal fire escape stairs so you could see through them, all the way down, as you climbed and they creaked away. I think there were 6 levels to the tower and the only exit was at the top so I dread to think what my heart rate was by the time I got there. The views were obviously good but I couldn't take advantage of them as I didn't want to get anywhere near the edge. My brain knew the castle had stood 700 years so it was all fine but it was also telling me that it had been damaged be earthquakes, fires and allied bombing in WW2 so was basically an accident waiting to happen.I went back down the stairs on very rubbery legs and finally reached the next part of the tour. Luckily no one else was on the stairs when I went up or down. We saw more amazing ceilings and read more information - the displays in the castle all had English versions and told of the architecture of the city, draining the nearby swamps to reclaim the land, town planning, the history of the Dukes, the artists involved in beautifying the castle, the earthquakes etc, a really fabulously informative selection.

Im Museum findet man auch wechselnde Sonderausstellungen.(Translated by Google)The castle from the outside is very beautiful. The indoor museum is insightful and informative, but unfortunately hardly interactive. Nevertheless, the rooms of the castle are fascinating due to their history and architecture. I expected more, the castle is enjoyable but half of the exhibition is empty rooms with too much text on the infoboards. Still recommended if you are in town tho. The temporary exhibitions were really good!

Beautiful castle with a moat surrounding it and in great shape. Was not able to enter it on the day we visited but I hear that it is worth it. There is a tower to view Ferrara from and so could be interesting for aerial photos.

Very beautiful palace. Tour can be rushed through or, if you want to read everything, be quite long.Dungeons where the highlight for the kids, I loved the historical facts and the kitchen. We where there early so no queue. Bring a euro coin for the lockers where you can store your bags (not mandatory though).Climbing up to the tower is ok, couple of stairs but not old steps like in other places but metal fire-escape-style-stairs. Beautiful views up there!

Amazing visit to the Estense Castle. Magnificent building right in the historical centre of Ferrara. The visit took about 2.30h as I like to read everything but you can also get an audio guide if you prefer. There was no waiting line for the tickets and I just bought them at the ticket office when I arrived. Very museum is very organised and you really feel that you've seen the whole castle. It's nice to learn about the Este family and their rivalry to the Medicis. There were 2 extra exhibitions when we visited: Maurizio Bottoni and Antonio Maria Nardi, which were a very nice addition to the trip. You can choose to buy the ticket that gives you access to the tower for a view point of beautiful Ferrara.

Amazing castle. I was really impressed at the preservation and art.

Jason P — Google review

I came to Ferrara just to see this place, the first Italian castle i have ever been to, and i have to say, it's ok, but nothing special. The castle itself is massive and true to the style of Italian castles. I would even say it's very beautiful on the outside. The view from the top of the tower was also great. The staff throughout the castle were very kind and helpful. However, the reason behind the 3-star review is what's inside the castle. Basically, there was so little. If you want written information, there is quite a lot of that, but very little to show in terms of physical objects. It was just room after room of emptiness and some poorly maintained ceiling paintings and other stuff. Had it not been for the view from the tower, i would have probably considered it not even worth visiting on the inside unless you realllly want to know about the history.

Khaldoun N — Google review

Full of history. Very well laid out. Panels in English everywhere so not sure if audio guide is necessary. Took almost two hours to go around. Didn't do the Torre Di Leone as it was over 100 steps! Dungeons are interesting. Tourist information office in the castle courytard. Unlike many other museums in Italy, this is closed on Tuesdays.

Such an important part of the history of the Renaissance! Very important figured lived or visited here. Great to see an actual moated castle!

Jim T — Google review

The castle is definitely the most significant building in the town. We most of the things in the town are built from bricks, this castle is also made of bricks, which was a big surprise for me as I am used to seeing castles made of stone. Make sure to check the opening hours. I was surprised that castle as well as many restaurants and places were closed on Tuesday and done also on Wednesday. You will pay extra 2€ for entrance to the tower but it is definitely worth it because it will give you wonderful views. Unfortunately the castle doesn't include original furniture. Signs inside the castle are both in Italian and English, but sometimes translations were not the best and you had to think twice about what they wanted to tell you. Also, it didn't necessarily go in the historical order so you were putting pieces of puzzles together to understand. Orientation inside the castle was also difficult sometimes because the outside curtains were closed so you had no idea on which part of the castle you are at the moment. But overall, of you are in Ferrara, you cannot miss the opportunity to visit this castle.

Ján D — Google review

I could write a book about it. It's a marvel. Just one detail: in the courtyard there is a well, closed by a metal grate. The iron chain is the most exquisite wrought iron. One can spend hours wondering on the intricate details. Go there, people. And marvel.

Luca N — Google review

The castle is in the very center of Ferrara, from the outside it looks very impressive. The best view of the city is from the top.

Beautifu big historic structure in the centre of town. Worth visiting with calm to enjoy all it has to offer, including an ascent in one of the towers (122 steps, no lift) to get a panoramic view all around.

Nice set of rooms right near the city centre of Ferrara. The rooms are tidy and the is a lot of space. The bathroom is sort clean and comfortable. The kitchen has to be shared with another room and then it needs to be cleaned. The prices are really good for the quality it offers. The WiFi is free and there is usually someone to speak to if you need something.

We (family - 2 adults, 3 children) had the spacious family suite with 2 rooms, kitchen and bathroom (shower + bathtub). Beautiful old building with a renovated bathroom, a small balcony facing Corso Giovecca and a small balcony with stairs to the quiet backyard. The kitchen was equipped with a refrigerator, freezer, stovetop, oven, microwave, and capsule coffee machine. For a usage fee of €15, you received a very sparse set of dishes, cutlery, etc. (no good and suitable cooking utensils for an occupancy of 5 people). We felt this fee was overpriced for what we received (see detailed photos). Contact with the landlords was made via the booking platform or via WhatsApp. We always received a quick response and they tried to resolve any inconveniences quickly. In direct contact (e.g. when cleaning the room) everyone was very friendly and accommodating. The quality of the room cleaning and the overall cleanliness immediately improved after initial complaints.

We ordered the room trough Booking and got totally different room - smaller ofcourse. With terrace that is locked with two locks. So you pay for a spacious room and get a tiny room in the attic. When we wanted to sort things out with the owner he/she? (They dont answer the phone, comunicate only via whatsapp text messages) told us that booking is mixing pictures which is not true. Anyways the owners manners were absolutely horrific, he in fact told us to leave him alone..There are many better acomodations in Ferrara, please support them. People running this place are the worst.

Ivan H — Google review

I'am very disapointed with this acomodation. I feel cheated and disgusted. We booked this acomodation via booking and unfortunatelly did not checked the reviews on google. The acomodation is something absolutely different than what we saw on booking pictures. Also there should be tereace which is locked, dirty and behind the grids. The acomodation is totally not matching the photos and hosts actions and communications is behind any boundaries of good manners. I definitely do not recommend it.

One of the worst hotels I've ever been to. They have the central A/C system and they set it to 25°. Do you call that A/C? Had to complain several times to set it to 21°. The bed was really bad. It makes a very disturbing noise every time you move. After changing the towels, they provided just one big towel for two people. Extremely disappointed.

The Palladian Basilica, a renowned 16th-century edifice designed by the famed architect Andrea Palladio, is an iconic Renaissance building located in the heart of Vicenza. Among its notable features is the pioneering use of what subsequently became known as the Palladian Window. Presently, cultural exhibitions and events are held at this historic site which commands stunning views of Piazza dei Signori - one of Vicenza's most beautiful locations.

Great place to view the most beautiful place in Vicenza, Piazza dei Signori. During the holidays the lighting is fantastic. It's magical!

Nice, plain architecture with a beautiful terrace looking over the main square of the city. It's a shame that you have to get an additional ticket for different exhibitions to see the inside of the building.

Ahmet K — Google review

The outside is beautiful. With some context the inside may be cool but don’t pay to go in expecting anything breathtaking. The view from the terrace was the best part.

Kelton E — Google review

Nice, but not a must-see. Watch out for the baby changing table in the ladies toilet, it springs back straight into your face, my wife almost lost her tooth while trying to open it! Staff was really helpful though, running downstairs for an ice pack.We visited on a week day, so there was no access to the topmost floor. We've only were allowed into the main floor, which is one massive room with quite an impressive open vault ceiling. The terrace offers nice views to the central city square. While I wouldn't pay the full price for visiting this place on its own, it's worth to drop by if you got the Vicenza Card combined ticket.

Honestly, the basilica was disappointing for me. I expected a large and beautiful building, and instead I just got a weird exhibition space that could easily be mistaken for anything else. Plus, the orientation around the building was super confusing - definitely a few pointers would come in handy. On the other hand, the terasse you can just sit down and chill at and look over the town centre is super stunning and kind of makes up for it.

The Palladian Basilica is a very important piece in the history of the western world. It was actually named a basilica by Andrea Palladio, the designer of its arched porches, to honor the roman empire basilicas, where people would gather to trade goods and hold meetings. Apart from being an architectural masterpiece, the basilica has a lot of very pleasant cafes and restaurants, both at the ground floor, and at the top terrace, and it is also visitable in the second part of the day (except the great hall at the piano nobile). The great hall at the first floor is like a big wooden ark/ship turned on its head. One of the most magnificently grandiose interior spaces in the history of the western world.

Alexandru B — Google review

Symbol of Vicenza and a massive building dominating the central square. The actual shops facing the square were kind of dead when we visited, though the back side had several bars spilling out into the streets during the evenings. Entry to the upper floor loggia is included in the museum/vicenza card. Roof access was not possible in October 2023 - I believe the roof and cafe are only open in the summer. Stop by in the evenings to see it lit up from within.

Performing arts theater

Concerts & Shows

Teatro Olimpico, Europe's first covered theater constructed in the 16th century by Palladio and completed after his death by Scamozzi, still stands today as a Renaissance adaptation of ancient theaters. The stage appears much larger upon entrance due to the use of intelligent set designs that diminish in size to create an illusion of distance. This permanent indoor structure was influential for its time, as most performances were held outdoors at temporary venues.

We visited this place while nothing was playing so we managed to sit and enjoy a bit of the interior design and architecture. It’s astonishing. The handwork that has gotten into this place is just out of this world.

Matteo M — Google review

A stunning architectural marvel and the oldest surviving Renaissance theatre in the world. Designed by Andrea Palladio, its intricate facade and impressive perspective scenery create a breathtaking atmosphere that transports visitors back in time. The interior is equally enchanting, with beautifully crafted details that showcase the artistry of the era. However, it's important to note that access to the stage and background is not included with the ticket purchase, which may disappoint some visitors eager to explore beyond the audience experience. Nonetheless, the theatre's historical significance and aesthetic appeal make it a must-visit for anyone interested in architecture and the performing arts.

To cut to the chase- it's a 500 year old theatre with REAL SCULPTURES and an architectural portico for a scene! Although myself I felt that the amount of architectural glamour seems almost kitschy, you cannot deny the scale and grandeur of the design. We visited with a year old baby. We left the pram at the reception desk, the staff was friendly for us to leave it there. There was a light show included in the price which wasn't great if you ask me, a bit over the top-new-years-eve type of thing, but it's a matter of opinion I guess.Overall, really worth visiting!

Nothing to say, the teatro is the best theater in the whole world. Palladio was a genius and hearing or seeing something inside this space is a lifetime experience

If you decide to spend money anywhere in Vicenza, it should certainly be here. It's a short visit and you really don't see much else than the stage itself, but it manages to charm its way into your heart with the decoration and unique atmosphere. It's good to use your Vicenza pass/4 museum card for it.

Kristýna V — Google review

Great piece of history. Light show was astonishing :)

Goran P — Google review

Masterpiece of Palladian architecture just a few minutes walk from the central square. Entry is around 11euros, but if you get the museum or Vicenza card and visit a couple of other spots you can easily make up for the entry fees. A theater from a bygone era with not too many visitors.

Teatro Olympico Vicenza..The oldest stage set in the world. Built in 1580 /85 by Palladio the Renaissance architect, completed after his death. The set was never dismantled . Entry through a pleasant garden which has a cafe/ bar. A. Long gallery depicting characters and quotes from plays. Enjoyed it. Vicenza was a pleasant surprise less expensive and less frenetic than many Italian tourist spots.

Wonderful old style theatre in Vicenza. The scenary is great, an optical illusion. I do recommend to see it when one is visiting this town.

Absolutely beautiful and amazing. I would say it is a must see. I think this is one of the most amazing things I have seen in Italy. I hope to be blown away as we visit farther south but am comfortable with my statement. Entry is 11 per person. Kids to a certain age are free but it would be best to go with older kids. We took our 2yo and it was tough. Pictures simply don't do it justice. Go see it!

Morgan M — Google review

A lot smaller than I expected when walking through, but very cool. I was amazed at the theater itself and it would be awesome to see a play here.

This has to be the jewel in the crown of all the fabulous Palladian buildings in Vicenza. A stunning theatre with such impressive scenery, and a brilliant light show illustrating all the different moods that could be seen on the amazing stage and its sets. Wonderful!

Park

Sights & Landmarks

The Prato della Valle park is one of the most popular spots in Padua. It's located in the heart of the city, and features a beautiful central lake surrounded by statues of notable Italians, including philosophers, writers, intellectuals and doctors. The peaceful atmosphere and gorgeous scenery make it a great place to relax after exploring all of Padua.

Just amazing. Thoroughly enjoyed the park with all the architectures, the water body and the lush greenery. Best part is vehicles are not allowed close to the park, so one can stroll across it and enjoy great times. Highly recommended if you are in Padova.

Incredibly beautiful! It's such a wonderful and creative concept for a park. Very lovely for a relaxed walk accompanied by beautiful sculptures.

The place is without a doubt worth a visit. It's actually big and superficially beautiful, but on second look it's getting quite old. The ravages of time are gnawing at the statues and the water in the oval canal is full of rubbish and algae. Padua should invest a little money here and bring one of its landmarks back into shape.

Italy and Europa. It is the largest square in Italy.Prato della Valle(Prà de ła VałeinVenetian) is a 90,000 square meter elliptical square inPadua. Today, the square is a large space with a green island at the center,l'Isola Memmia, surrounded by a small canal bordered by two rings of statues.Prior to 1635, the area that would come to be known as the "Prato della valle" was largely a featureless expanse of partially swampy terrain just south of the old city walls of Padova. In 1636, a group of Venetian and Veneto notables financed the construction of a temporary but lavishly appointed theater as a venue for mock battles on horseback. The musical entertainment that served as the prologue to the jousting is considered to be the immediate predecessor of the first public opera performances in Venice, which began the following year.

A remarkable and revered landmark in Padua. This stunning church, completed in the 13th century, is a masterpiece of Romanesque and Gothic architecture. The interior is richly adorned with beautiful frescoes, intricate sculptures, and impressive artworks. The basilica houses the tomb of Saint Anthony, making it a significant pilgrimage site. The Chapel of the Relics, with its precious religious artifacts, is particularly noteworthy. The serene cloisters and tranquil gardens provide a peaceful retreat from the bustling city. Attending a service or simply exploring the basilica offers a deep sense of spirituality and history. A visit to the Basilica di Sant'Antonio di Padova is a truly enriching experience for both the faithful and lovers of art and architecture.

An incredible place, it leaves a strong impression even today. A few centuries ago, the "wow" effect must have been even stronger. When you first step inside, you're not sure what to look at or focus on. Appropriate attire is required – knees must be covered ( possible to buy cover for 1€)

Gorgeous place with multiple decorations. There is no need to pay or wait for the visit. Open for tourists and pilgrims even during Holy Mass. Maybe your prayer will be heard if you come to Saint Anthony grave, but for sure, you will be surprised after seeing his tongue and vocal cords as relics.

A spectacular Basilica just 10 mins walk from th3 centre of town.A deeply religious place, more so than others that we have witnessed.Beautiful decorations inside of what is quite a plain building from the outside, except for the beautiful domes.Absolutely huge inside and the entire area outside the Basilica is selling religious paraphanellia on mass, which is a little tacky. The Basilica is free to enter.

I loved this place. We came on Saturday evening and there was a service held there, it was crowded but still you could see everything and it's a wonder. Nothing compares to basilicas in Italy! From small ones to the biggest ones, it's always something marvelous to see!

Definitely one of the most spectacular Basilicas in Italia. Pretty easy to walk from the city center, on the way you can also enjoy the park with a lot of statues. Chapel

Sights & Landmarks

The Scrovegni Chapel is a monument to the art of Giotto and his frescoes are considered some of the finest in Europe from the 14th century. The chapel is located in Padua, Italy and reservations are recommended to visit as the frescos are beautiful.

One of a kind art treasure. Countless details. Educate yourself about it before you go and you will get much more from the time controlled experience. Do buy tickets on line ahead. Time slots do fill up. No ticket, no visit.

Erich B — Google review

What an amazing little Chapel. This was one of the many highlights of our visit to Padova. Purchase your tickets online before you go. We enjoyed the introductory video as we didn't know much about Giotto. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The museum and displays on the grounds are also very interesting. But the Chapel is the star of the show. It is simply amazing that this was done in the early 1300s and is still so vibrant. I am so happy that they have a system to keep it beautiful as well.

Patty E — Google review

Espectacular experience and worth seeing. But, be prepared, the explanation video is in Italian with English subtitles, so if you don't know either it's practically useless... Calculate that once inside you have almost 15min, then you must leave. It's small so they organise and control the number of visitors. The museum was nice, but the majority of it, 80%, was just explained in Italian. So if you don't know your art and there's no one to explain it could become boring. You MUST be super punctual, and calculate at least arriving 15min earlier. You must put your things in a locker and the entrance is a bit far from the chapel. As for getting the tickets, I advise using a computer to do it. It's complicated and time consuming. TIP, the name doesn't matter. One person can purchase all the tickets under the same name.

Marina T — Google review

Beautiful experience, especially as art and art history students who have been studying this chapel for years! Honestly a surreal experience.Students definitely should get their student card because it was a lot cheaper for us to go in! That said, it is definitely better to book the tickets beforehand to avoid the wait. But if you do buy the tickets there, you can go around the archeological museum there to make the time go by faster~The staff was also very friendly and super helpful!! An overall wonderful experience even if we only spent 15 minutes inside the chapel.

Anthea A — Google review

The ticket includes Museo Eremitani, Palazzo Zuckermann and Scrovegni church. I bought the ticket at the entrance, but it is recommended to buy a ticket in advance as the tickets could be over. Students have a discounted rate (6 Euros). It is a 15 minutes informative video and 15 minutes inside the chapel. The chapel has beautiful frescos. Your ticket will mention the time you can enter the chapel.

This Chapel in Padua, Italy, a short walking distance from railway station is a historical gem, renowned for its stunning paintings. Stepping into this small chapel is like stepping into a narrative of biblical stories beautifully portrayed on every wall and ceiling. The intimate setting adds to the experience, allowing visitors to immerse themselves fully painting masterpieces. A visit here is a journey through art history.

It is absolutely impressive to be able to experience the painting from the early 14th century carefully reconstructed here. In any case, it is worth visiting the chapel, the museum also has a lot of treasures - but you should allow at least 2-3 hours to see everything. There are fixed times for the chapel... but you can easily bridge that if you just go to the museum.

Magda S — Google review

It's wise to book ahead. Before entering the small chapel we were shown a short video introducing the artist Giotto and his painting style. Each time about 30 visitors are allowed to spend 15 mins to admire the famous mural above their heads. It's quite rushed but definitely worthwhile.

Charles W — Google review

Impressive place.Totally recommended!!We didn't have tickets because we weren't sure we would have time to go to Padua on this trip to Italy and we bought the tickets on the place without any problem. We only had to wait an hour to enter the chapel but we saw the Museum.

Nuria S — Google review

You only get 15 minutes inside. Have to book in advance and it's worth every moment. It served (so we think) as the inspiration for Michaelangelo 's Sistine ChapelTake a local guide to show you what the paintings are all about.

Keith M — Google review

Super interesting and nice visit!Despite the bad reviews about the introductory video before visiting the chapel, I personally found it very helpful and instructive, as it gives you some context, especially if you're not familiar with Giotto's work. The sessions were very well-organized.I highly recommend visiting it at night when possible (Giotto sotto le Stelle, I believe only in summer). We booked the last session and it was very quiet and chill.Downside: The small room was full of mosquitoes, so bring mosquito repellent!

L S — Google review

These frescoes painted by Giotto and finished around 1306, are among the works that have impressed me the most in my life, the preservation of the colour and the details of each scene are impressive. It is an incredible experience to visit this chapel. Totally recommended!

This is beyond doubt one of the most beautiful and important pieces of western art. Absolutely stunning and so well preserved! This rivals, and in my opinion, surpasses the Sistine Chapel- a must see for art enthusiasts

A V — Google review

Wonderful and original chapel. The most recognized place is Padova. The trip lasts 30 min and it starts with a 10-15 min-long video explaining the history of the chapel and what is represents. There is enough time to admire the interior. Definitely worth seeing! If you prefer to be sure about the time of the trip, it's better to pre-book it with vivaticket.com. The ticket also includes entrance to Musei Civici agli Eremitani (just next to the chapel) and Palazzo Zuckerman (nearby).

Monika H — Google review

These are stunning and highly significant works of art, but the Scrovegni staff are horrible. They refused to honor tickets I had bought online and forced me to pay again in person when I already had tickets. They not only double charged but also charged an incorrect higher fee for my four year old. They also had the audacity to go to my child and say "remember no running" while she was seated in a stroller and not even walking. I definitely would not return to this place and definitely don't recommend buying tickets online.

Cindy R — Google review

We couldn't buy tickets in advance (problems with receiving OTP codes on foreign numbers), so we showed up on a Sunday at 10:45 to buy tickets. We could join the 12:15 session, and visited the museum in the meantime. The visit of the chapel starts with a 15min movie subtitled in English, which already gives great information about the construction and context of the chapel as well as zoom in on many of the scenes depicted. It's an amazing way to prepare before the visit. After the video you have another 15 minutes in the chapel to admire the frescoes. It goes quite quick ! But the paintings are really colorful and unique, and the visit is worth it.

Chloé R — Google review

One of the wonders of the Medieval world, where Giotto kicked off the Renaissance with beautiful frescoes.A must see if you're in the Veneto, Padua is only a short hop from Venice, and this chapel will not disappoint.Book tickets in advance!

The Museo del Ponte degli Alpini is a war museum located in Bassano del Grappa, Italy. It was established to commemorate the brave soldiers who fought and died during World War I. The museum showcases artifacts, exhibits and interactive displays that provide visitors with a glimpse into the harsh realities of war. The collections include weapons, uniforms, vehicles and equipment used by soldiers during battle. The museum also displays information about the history of the Italian army and its contributions to various wars throughout history.

This place had special significance for my wife as her Nonno served in WW1 with the Alpini. Very fascinating exhibition even if you have no link to it. Entry is through the tavern & downstairs. Well worth a visit.

Never again war!(Original)Entrata dal bar taverna. Biglietto: 3€. Bambini fino a 10 anni non pagano. Piccolo (d'altronde è a ridosso del ponte) ma con tante cose interessanti da leggere e vedere. Bodies of Water

The Grand Canal in Venice is a massive canal that runs through the heart of the city. It has been an important waterway in the city for hundreds of years and has served as a beautiful backdrop to many iconic scenes in Italian culture.

The Grand Canal in Venice, Italy, is a significant waterway in the city, serving as a major route for water traffic. The Grand Canal holds fame for various reasons: the magnificent palaces adorning its shores, the elegant bridges spanning its waters, its role in connecting the city's top attractions, and, of course, the enjoyable gondola rides that offer a fun way to enjoy it all!

Melvin J — Google review

Best place to admire the beautiful Venetian architecture! Definitely a must-see! Use one of the Gondolas for an authentic experience, but if you're exploring Venice on a budget, I suggest getting an ACTV public transport pass and taking Linea 1 from Arsenale along the Canal Grande to P.le Roma or vice versa :)

Kris — Google review

The beautiful Grand Canal is the largest and the most famous destination in Venice. They run through every corner of the city. Magnificent view and iconic landmark. It’s the unique charms of Venice!

Siri — Google review

Great way to travel to enjoy the view and not wait in line. You get to have your own boat for a few minutes like in the movie ´ The Tourist’ which you probably are ☺️It was a nice ride. Quite unforgettable for somebody such as me. Great for lovers and friends to share these simple memories.

Cee C — Google review

It is indescribable when you approach Venice by boat and see all these beautiful buildings reflected in the water. It is also pleasant to ride along the Grand Canal with the Vaporetto and enjoy the beautiful palaces along the canal. Arriving in Venice by train also has its own charm, when you are waiting for a transfer at the main station, you are already taken over by this disease called Venice.

Bogdan M — Google review

The best way to explore Venice, you will get the best views of the city and can explore all the attractions. If you stand in the boat you won't get the motion sickness as bad. So if you have problems with motion sickness I suggest getting on these fairies standing up and not sitting down.

Farzod D — Google review

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐The Canal Grande Boat Tickets are easy to get at kiosks near the docks or online, and you can choose from various routes depending on where you want to go. Popular lines like the #1 and #2 take you through iconic spots like the Rialto Bridge and Santa Maria della Salute. The vaporetto is a fun and efficient way to explore Venice's vibrant energy. Don't miss it!

Altin L — Google review

The Grand Canal is Venice’s main artery, curving through the heart of the city like a majestic aquatic boulevard. Lined with centuries-old palaces, churches, and bustling markets, it showcases the city’s rich architectural history. Gondolas, vaporettos, and boats glide along its waters, offering a unique, ever-changing view of Venetian life. The canal’s iconic S-shape connects Venice’s most significant landmarks, making it both a scenic route and a vital thoroughfare. In essence, the Grand Canal is Venice's soul, embodying its timeless beauty and vibrant daily rhythm.

Khalid K — Google review

Beautiful place in Italy. This looks so pleasing in the morning , evening, and night. The place is so lively with a lot of people. There are plenty of places to eat but fewer places to pass and watch out for limited bathroom availability. Gondola services are available everywhere, but most of them will cut it short by 1o minute.Magnificent buildings and lot of history.

Ramesh F — Google review

I went on a gondola ride with my best friend and it was very enjoyable. Very smooth ride in the sun but I was hoping for some singing from the gondolier.

Samantha B — Google review

The economical (now a little expensive) way to visit Venice without all the stairs and bridges. Great on hot days. The Venetian palaces seen from the lake are very majestic and the colors are magnificent. Life in Venice is very lively on the Canal Grande, a major thoroughfare for daily traffic.

X R — Google review

We traveled by water bus at the Grand Canal in Venice all the time when we were there. The Grand Canal is so beautiful whether we are in there or looking from far away or on top of a bridge. Some reviews said the water is smelly. But fortunately, the weather was cold when we were there. The water doesn't smell at all.The views of the Grand Canal are almost like I'm in a painting! It almost looks unreal to me!

Michael W — Google review

We did a tour of the Grand Canal on the front of a Ferry on line 2. It is the most cost effective stunning tour of Venice we have done, and do it at sunset for an even better views. Badicly get on before Rialto stop, wait for everyone to get off at Rialto, then get a front seat on the ferry and enjoy a ride along the canal and around the island.

Gavin — Google review

The very beautiful Grand Canal runs throughout Venice, it’s very nice. It has lots of museums and places to visit along the way as well as it connects to other various channels and smaller canals throughout the city. There are some nice places to get a better view of the canal, and when your in Venice you won’t be able to miss it as your most certainly going to pass by it several times a day.

Pong L — Google review

The Grand Canal is the largest and most famous canal in Venice. It is nearly four kilometers long and separates one half of Venice from the other. The Grand Canal of Venice, Italy defines the perfect blend of romantic boat rides and attractive ancient architecture.

Ashok M — Google review

An obvious trip for anyone coming to Venice. Get a 25 euro pass for a 24 hour period and hop on hop off or sail around the grand canal and continue in to visit the islands of Murano, Burano, and Torcello. You will not be disappointed.

Brian M — Google review

Ah Venice... The Grand Canal definitely does not disappoint. Interwoven with smaller channels and canals it snakes through the heart of the city. You can stop at the various small ports with a short trip to museums and famous old houses some of which are open to the public. There are other attractions and lovely historic buildings line the banks. A gondola ride is a must to take in the sights of this amazing canal.

Simon A — Google review

The Grand Canal of Venice is super impressive and serves as the emblem of this beautiful city. It is always great to get a watertaxi in the canal and take in the views - there is no experience quite like it!

Harry L — Google review

It’s just breathtaking. Depends on the weather… when we visited it, it was cloudy and the pictures came out to be very beautiful. But too many people try to avoid crowds and find perfect spot to relax

Avee M — Google review

My recent visit to the Grand Canal was truly memorable. Taking the vaporetto from Piazzale Roma to San Marco was an excellent way to experience the beauty and vibrancy of Venice. The iconic canal was bustling with activity, offering stunning views of historic buildings, bridges, and gondolas gliding gracefully by. The ride itself was smooth and enjoyable, providing ample opportunity to take in the picturesque scenery and capture some great photos. The journey from Piazzale Roma to San Marco and back left a lasting impression. It was a delightful and scenic experience that I highly recommend to anyone visiting Venice.

Plaza

Sights & Landmarks

St. Mark's Square is a popular tourist destination in Venice, Italy due to its rich history and Venetian Renaissance architecture. The square is filled with cafes and shops, and it is often the site of large events such as concerts and festivals. St. Marks Basilica, one of the most iconic churches in Europe, is located at the center of the square.

This square is just wonderful, especially on a sunny day. The basilica looks just gorgeous! Around, there are plenty of restaurants and cafes. There are also small stands where Venetian masks are sold.

Arkadiusz J — Google review

Fairly self explanatory. Free to visit, though you can pay to climb to the top, but not really worth it.Best viewed in the early evening when the tourists have moved on….alternatively late afternoon combined with a trip to Caffe Florian, where you can enjoy the Piazza from the terrace!

Richard M — Google review

I am stunned to see people able to rate this site with anything else than 5 stars! This is the very top of world's beauty, this site is a myth and it rises to match its reputation. I was fortunate enough to visit it several times, walking through the pigeons and listening to the piano by the terraces, and also passing by on a big cruise ship, taking photos that could well be taken for aereals.

C'est un endroit incroyable, hors du temps, place principale de Venise, elle attire énormément de monde. C'est a faire au moins une fois dans sa vie. L'architecture est éblouissante. It is an impressive square with lots of shops and resurants. These can be very expensive but you have the option of listening to live music. We climbed the tower and would highly recommend. This place floods at high tide at night so they provide planks to walk on which is very cool.

This is probably the busiest piazza in all of Venice. This place is one of the main tourist sites as you have the obelisks, the tower and St Mark's basilica here as well as what looks to be an astronomical clock. The piazza has water in certain parts so do be careful when walking around. There are cafes and restaurants in the area.

Richard F — Google review

One of the biggest and gorgeous squares of Europe. It is a happening place buzzing with tourists and a lot going on pretty much all the time (during the day). Quite a few of the major tourist attractions of Venice such as St. Mark’s Basilica, Doge’s Palace, The Clock Tower etc are quite literally located on this square.

Mike T — Google review

In the Italy Trip I love Venice at the most impressive moment. Not only "St. Mark's Square" but also many old mysterious unique buildings which sound like they are carrying me into the past more than 400 years ago.The only thing I'm so scared of is the Flood which I hope their Government has already well planned and protected.Because I'd like people in the next 20 years to have a good chance like me to watch and enjoy the amazing legend of Venice with the myth of Reading Lion, 400 years famous coffee shop and colorful gondola also Venice Carnival.

Preechavut K — Google review

1.The square is beautiful as always, but this time it was blocked due to a concert...2. The next day I came during a concert rehearsal, so the experience was much better. Overall, it is powerful and has beautiful architecture.

A beautiful place I visitied in 2004 with my wife and my closest friends. It was an awesome journey. We walked a lot along the canals. People were so friendly, the weather was very warm, almost hot but we did it. It was one day trip. Our hotel and the place of sleeping was across the water, I must find it :)

One of the most beautiful places that I have ever been to, not only a place, it's because you don't think that is possible one that is a bigger place on an island like Venice, incredible, amazing! You have to go almost once in your life to Venice, and Burano et Murano are mandatory!!

Gigantisch! But here too, there is nothing to relax in the heat except in restaurants. Unfortunately not too clean everywhere.

Beautiful square :) There is scaffolding for restoration (I assume) if that matters to you, but it is not a huge bother. At sunset, I took a waterbus from the station close by along the grand canal and it was beautiful taking in Venice that way. Lots of iconic movie scenes!

Art museum

The Doge's Palace, also known as Palazzo Ducale, is a stunning Gothic building located in Venice on St. Mark's Square. It served as the residence of the rulers and housed the parliament, secret affairs of the Inquisition, and even imprisoned criminals. The palace boasts chiseled colonnades, Gothic arches, and crenellated walls that give it an exquisite and sophisticated appearance in this city on water.

A wonderful palace full of rich history! You can buy your tickets day of, but you will be stuck in a line to be able to get inside. The palace is wonderful, and the walls have stories of how it all came to be and how the role of the Doge was handled throughout time. You explore the halls and rooms within the building, along with the connected prison chamber and pass through the inside of the sigh bridge.Overall a good experience, and one item as a must do while in Venice!

Hernan H — Google review

What a blessing to be able to enter the museum with an e-ticket!There is a very decent cafe on the ground floor and then you walk on.Keep in mind that you can't leave the exhibition before you've walked through it all - that's how the tourist traffic inside the palace works. The main attraction, in my opinion, is the ceiling decoration of the palace. It is worth the money and time spent. It's heavy renaissance, you can't find such finishing elsewhere. Sometimes I think that the ceiling mouldings are made of whole tree trunks. It's very massive.

Ira_ I — Google review

A must see. Absolutely stunning opulent palace. Very golden. Tickets are 25€ if booked 30 days prior. 30€ if book within 30 days. Opening time vary with season. For winter 2024 is 9:00- 18:00. It is wheel chair accessible. Opened every day. This is definitely a very popular attraction so must be crowded on peak season.

Carine — Google review

The Doge's Palace in Venice is an architectural masterpiece that immerses you in the grandeur and history of the Venetian Republic. Located on the edge of the iconic Piazza San Marco, this Gothic palace is both a symbol of Venice’s power and a cultural treasure. From the moment you step inside, you are greeted by lavish halls adorned with breathtaking frescoes and ornate decorations. The artwork, particularly by masters like Titian and Tintoretto, is simply stunning, and each room tells its own story of Venice’s rich past. The Golden Staircase, with its glittering gold ceilings, and the Hall of the Great Council, one of the largest rooms in Europe, are must-sees.One of the most intriguing parts of the visit is crossing the Bridge of Sighs, which links the palace to the old prisons. Walking in the footsteps of prisoners who once saw their last view of Venice here adds a somber and reflective element to the experience. The palace’s combination of art, history, and architecture makes it a must-visit for anyone exploring Venice. It’s a large site, so plan for a couple of hours to truly take it all in. While it can be crowded, especially in peak tourist season, it’s well worth the time to explore this emblem of Venetian grandeur.

Wisanu T — Google review

Interesting place. Very pretty artwork. Go with a tour and you can skip the line. highly recommend . Randomly, it had a shared bathroom for men and women. It was fine as each stall was it's own room. I just found it hilarious that they had a Nona standing at the door making sure you used the "right" stall. I asked my husband and his stall was just a toilet as well. cracked me up that she was so diligent about keeping everyone in line, lol. At least there were 3 female and 2 male stalls!

Carrie J — Google review

A large and lavish palace with museum explaining the palace. The palace itself is very beautiful and well kept considering all it’s been through. The staff were quite rude though. Do not buy tickets in advance as the website doesn’t show the correct information

Giovanni B — Google review

Wow. This is a stunning place. It is worth a visit to truly comprehend the power and wealth the Venetians once possessed. The intricacy of carvings and the incredible size of the paintings is fascinating. The weapons displayed in the armory make one wonder how strong, resilient and skilled the fighters had to be to swing them.We showed up at 6pm and it was nice and quiet, only6 few other people were around and we could get tickets without a line

Irina K — Google review

Beautiful building with impressive rooms and architecture and a rich history.I recommend to buy tickets for a certain slot in advance. It will avoid having to queue. The ticket system was terrible though. Payments keep on failing in Safari. When I tried Chrome, it worked.I also recommended using the audio tour guide. Make sure you have the app before you visit the place. You can pay 5 euro cash (2024) at the audio tour desk and scan a QR code. The audio guide tells you for what purpose the room was used and what scenes are depicted in the many paintings.Your visit will take about two hours and you will cross the Bridge of Sighs twice.

Nik E — Google review

A key tourist spot in Venice, but book in advance for the best way to beat the queues with a separate, timed entrance.Fascinating to wander around, no need to pay for the audio guide, everything is written on the exhibits.Well worth a trip, we spent about 90 minutes wandering around and included a trip into the prison, though there is the opportunity to cut this out if you want to avoid all the steps!

Richard M — Google review

Stepping into this grand place was really awe-inspiring. The intricate architecture and art is one of a kind. A must-visit for anyone who appreciates history and beauty.

Ray ( — Google review

Highly recommend for anyone looking to be thorough or just interested in an hour activity. Gorgeous ceiling painting and a detailed path to follow from the top of the palace. You can quickly run through everything in under an hour. What I found really cool about the palace is that you’re given a firsthand view of what politics looked like in Venice, the rooms that fates were decided and where voting occurred.

Daniel H — Google review

The palace was a great sight to behold, and to visit the upper rooms and the prison was nice. It was interesting to see how they did things back in the day. And this is one of the attractions you have to visit if you are in venice

Bennie B — Google review

A MUST SEE! Gosh, the tour is simply exquisite and the English language cannot do justice to the richness of this palace. The history, the decorum and the journey through the palace of the Doge is worth it. Besides, the museum shop is extremely fairly priced and offers a vast array of worthy souvenirs. Tip: head there over lunchtime as it is less crowded.

I H — Google review

Visited in October when it was raining heavy outside so it was perfect. The Palace is full of history and good architecture. I will recommend to buy the tickets online or you will wait with feet underwater for 1 hour. The queue for toilet was 1 hour, 1 hour carl. They need to be bigger. The staff was very helpful. Overall 5/5

Enjoyed our time at the palace. We bought our tickets ahead of time and had to wait about 10 minutes in the skip the line, line. Once inside we opted to go into the Marco Polo area for an extra two euros per person and really enjoyed this museum, great information also the air conditioning was pleasantly, cool. The rest of the Palace was also very nice to look at the place is huge and has lots of areas. The ceiling work is amazing.

Lisa O — Google review

We bought our tickets at the palace and the line was very fast. You pay 30euros per adult and 15euros for student 18-24. The price includes 3 other museums in the square. The place was hot. No air conditioning in the hot summer afternoon. They opened a few windows and the views were great but not enough breeze to get cooled. You are directed to climb to the top first and work your way down. The walls and ceiling paintings are spectacular. As you make your way down to the prison cells, it can get a bit claustrophobic with people moving the narrow hallway slowly. The Bridge of Sighs follows the cells and is interesting to see.

Pam S — Google review

Interesting museum with lots of stairs. Stop by the cafe for an expresso and snack before you start your tour. I enjoyed the guns with inlaid handles and swords. The craftsmanship was amazing. Ornate ceiling paints were beautiful. The jail area is very interesting. Definitely worth a visit. We did not do a tour. I suggest that you get there early as the lines get longer as the day progresses.

Andee A — Google review

An absolutely beautiful palace for the Duke of Venice. The first floor is not exactly all that appealing, but once you get into the "chambers", you will be surrounded by golden ceilings and oil paintings everywhere. In the largest room of the palace, you will find "Paradise", the world's largest oil painting. I think it is a very bad idea to build a prison in the Duke's palace, but it seems to have worked out for them. Located in a great place in the San Marco plaza, and next to the Basilica di San Marco and the end of the Grand Canal.

Marcus X — Google review

The ticket price is outrageously high, and we definitely had a visit experience that was not worth the price. We despite choosing a less crowded period in Venice and purchasing tickets in advance with a specific time slot, the palace was still crowded. This can only mean they are selling too many tickets without considering visitors' experience. The first and longest part of your visit is a dull exhibition about the palace and the Venetian dukes. If you know nothing about Venice Palace and Dukes, the exhibition might be interesting, but if you have even a bit of knowledge, it will feel boring. The rooms they prepared for this exhibition are specially designed to close off the palace, with walls covered in burgundy plaster and ceilings covered with nets, giving no sense of being inside a palace. We thought the whole visit would be like this, and we felt disappointed. In the second part, you get to see the grand palace rooms and halls. The rooms are truly beautiful with their magnificent ceilings and walls adorned with paintings. The third part involves visiting the prison by crossing the Bridge of Sighs. It's an empty and boring walk. You only see prison cells. In short, you pay an exorbitant fee to see a few rooms and halls of the palace amidst a crowded mass of people. I definitely don't think it's worth it.

Murat Y — Google review

A definite must-see. We bought our tickets online, on the day we visited, as we saw a massive queue the day before when we were in the area and decided not to chance it.We got a self-guided tour and were happy with our choice, as it makes it easier to visit at your own pace, especially since it's so crowded. Also worth noting is that the square floods a bit during high tide, so timing is important if you don't want to get your shoes wet. If you don't mind it, however, it's a great opportunity to take some interesting photos.

Cristina R — Google review

It’s a must visit in Venice!I suggest you get tickets online to skip the line. You can visit the main palace and the prison connected with the famous sigh bridge. Sometimes there are fantastic temporary galleries and museums held inside so make sure to check beforehand not to miss them.

Doge's Palace is a must-visit when you come to Venice, as it holds a rich history of the city. If you love architecture, history, and art, especially painting, you'll appreciate this palace. The palace boasts not only a stunning exterior facade but also an intricately decorated interior. Every wall and ceiling are beautifully painted. Half a day is not enough to explore every corner of this magnificent place. We recommend visiting early in the morning when there are fewer people, allowing you to take as many pictures as you like.

Aaron S — Google review

The paintings and ceilings are breathtaking, they are ginormous. We went with a tour group and it was not too crowded. There are not many places to sit down inside and there are many stairs.

Samantha B — Google review

We did a tour with legendary Venice tours which got us in earlier, which we highly recommend. Our guide Virginia was excellent. It really made us appreciate Venice more. Nearly every major attraction in Venice is teeming with people so going early is more than worth it.

Sarah W — Google review

I'm doing Venice on a budget, so I didn't pay for a tour. For €5 I downloaded an app and got a self-guided audio tour. The information is basic, but it does the job. The palazzo is easy to navigate due to well-placed signs in Italian and English, and the museum staff is extremely helpful. One suggestion, do not use the WC on the first floor. The line is super long! Wait a bit (if you can) and use the one on the second floor. Overall, it was a great experience!

“The Doge’s Palace is an absolute must-visit for anyone in Venice. This stunning Gothic masterpiece stands as a testament to the city’s rich history and political power. As you approach the palace, the intricate façade and the iconic bridge of sighs immediately captivate your attention. Inside, the opulent rooms are filled with breathtaking artwork and grand architecture that will leave you in awe. Each chamber tells a story of the Doges who once ruled, from the magnificent Hall of the Great Council to the eerie prison cells. Don’t miss the chance to explore the secret passages and learn about the political intrigues of the past. A visit to the Doge’s Palace isn’t just a tour; it’s a journey through time that offers a fascinating glimpse into the heart of Venice’s history. Make sure to take your time to soak it all in—this is an experience you won’t want to rush!”

Sergio L — Google review

Amazing building and history. The political fortress of Venetian power over their realm. Each room although empty was filled with historic imagery through clear description panels in multiple languages. Check out the Museum Cafe as well with vegan and vegetarian options.

Bridge

Sights & Landmarks

The Rialto Bridge is one of Venice's most iconic landmarks and a popular attraction for tourists and locals alike. The bridge spans the Grand Canal between its two highest points above sea level, providing an easy way for ships to pass.

This is not the only historical item of Venice you need to visit, see or to make a picture. But indeed so special to visit. Please take a good look of the details of this amazing bridge. One of many and when you go by boat under the bridge, do not forget to kiss your lover under each bridge ;)

Jeroen G — Google review

The bridge is beautiful, If they took care of the services in the area it would be great.. I recommend visiting an amazing view, very crowded and very warm. I recommend visiting at night too, it's more relaxing and less hot.

Mohamed A — Google review

If you go off-season it's still beautiful and not too crowded. Has nice shops on the bridge as well. However, in essence it is just another bridge in Venice and there are so many other attractions that are underrated.

SniffsButterForFun — Google review

The bridge is amazing! On top, you can admire a beautiful panorama of the canal. Along the bridge, there are many small shops with masks, jewelry, and glass.

Arkadiusz J — Google review

Absolutely chockablock with people. Didn’t realise the bridge had two walkways on it. Always busy too. Great shops on either side of the bridge. Definitely worth the walk on both sides as there’s some great pubs, shops and eateries to each side.

The C — Google review

Gorgeous bridge but way too many people, smoke & dirt. We were lucky to find a spot to see the view but after forgot to take a pic of the bridge itself because of the overwhelming number of people. Be careful with your belongings.

UnDiplomatic W — Google review

You can take beautiful photos here. You can also take time-lapse here. We can say that this is one of the most famous places in Venice. This place will be busy. Please be careful with your bags and pockets.

Mobile G — Google review

Great place with great views and lots of shops around the area. I would say the easiest way to get there is by the water bus or you can walk there if you prefer too. Just a tip, but also be careful of pickpockets because it is really crowded there! Definitely worth going to because the views are amazing and there are many shops you can go shopping in around the area too.

B C — Google review

Lovely. I was expecting everything to be dirty but the water looks clean, there isn’t even graffiti anywhere. People are friendly. Feel completely safe And was not ripped off anywhere.

David S — Google review

so pretty. gives you a brilliant view of the grand canal. the sunsets there are even prettier. there are two sides of the bride one side is very crowded and the other side isn’t. both sides give off the same view to me. might be different for other people. but if your going there during the day either side works for photos.

Marina T — Google review

Very busy spot in Venice. Its iconic arches and lively atmosphere drew me in instantly. Walking across, I enjoyed views of the Grand Canal. And the cherry on top? Viewing it all from the comfort of a gondola ride, truly capturing the essence of Venice's charm and history.

Virlla S — Google review

Wow, the Rialto bridge in Venice offers stunning views of the grand Canal, my experience was somewhat marred by the crowds and graffiti unfortunately, the presence of graffiti to tract it from the charm of this iconic landmark. The bridge was incredibly busy, making it difficult to fully enjoy its beauty and history. Despite these drawbacks, the views from the bridge are undeniably, breathtaking, capturing the essence of Venice.

Cody R — Google review

Maybe when the famous bridge is less crowded with curious tourists then we will find peace with it and admire its notoriety and architectural beauty? If you can amidst the hordes of tourists, find a place in the middle of the bridge and snap a wide angle shot of the the Arno River with approaching boats.

C.G. — Google review

The Rialto Bridge is very beautiful, offering stunning views of the Grand Canal. However, it can get extremely crowded, and people often don’t give space once they find a good spot. Good luck clicking good shots amidst the crowd, but the views are definitely worth the effort!

Sharan B — Google review

It's a beautiful and the oldest of 4 bridges offering a lovely view of Grand Canal Venice . One can climb up the steps ,it offers views on both sides .One can go for a gondola ride or a speedboat ride depending on preference.Lots of hotels ,pubs and restaurants, local market line up the area making it vibrant in day but it looks amazing at night .

Anky S — Google review

Amazing, first bridge in Venice crossing The Grand Canal. So big the are shops in the middle of it. Definitely visiting again in the future

Alex M — Google review

Very beautiful, but has so many tourist during summer that it is hard to even take a picture, if you’re coming for the bridge go during a less popular time of year!! It’s also way to warm during summer

Snow C — Google review

Busy area but beautiful! Watch out for pickpockets. We crossed the bridge 4 times over 3 days and each time was beautiful.

Nicole A — Google review

The oldest bridge to build over the grand canal, it is a testament of of the great Venetian architecture.A true symbol of Venice.Very touristy.Be aware of pickpocketThe famous gondola ride starts from here which costs 80 euro per gondola for a half hour ride during day time.

Chitrita G — Google review

The Rialto Bridge in Venice is the perfect spot for a romantic proposal on a gondola. Its breathtaking architecture and historical significance create a magical atmosphere, ideal for such a special moment. As you glide under the bridge on a gondola, surrounded by the serene waters of the Grand Canal, the view is simply stunning. The bustling yet charming surroundings add to the enchantment, making it an unforgettable experience. Proposing at this iconic location is like stepping into a fairy tale, ensuring a memory that will be cherished forever. Highly recommend this spot for a truly unforgettable engagement!

Jakub K — Google review

This is the most famous and the most important bridge in venice, so many people came here on and off at any given time. The view of grand canal is very nice from here

Fonouvdior — Google review

The Rialto Bridge is truly a sight to behold, offering breathtaking views of the iconic Grand Canal, especially at sunrise or sunset when the light creates a magical ambiance. While it can get quite crowded, particularly with people eager to hold their ground for the perfect photo, there are quieter moments if you visit early in the morning or late at night. Capturing the perfect shot may require some patience, but the sweeping views of the canal, with its gondolas and historic buildings, are absolutely worth the effort. It’s an experience that shouldn’t be missed on any visit to Venice!

Yota X — Google review

Venice is so unique. Be sure and stay until after dark in San Marco Square. Absolutely stunning visualization of early life in this former trading center of the world.farther.We were staying at a hotel in Rome and took the Trenitalia 4 hour train ride to Venice from Roma Termini for a one day excursion. This is a fast train that travels more than 150 mph.

William P — Google review

Iconic bridge, but very busy in core hours. Best viewed from a boat / water taxi, or late night early morning when no crowds.

Richard M — Google review

One of the most famous bridges on the Grand Canal, which means it is very busy. Water buses stop nearby, gondola rides (take the 110€ trip), and river taxis are all available here. Lots of shops are built on the bridge, but prices are naturally high.

Richard W — Google review

Beautiful historical bridge. It is a peace of art and a must see in Venice, Italy. There are always a lot of people therefore I would recommend to take pictures of the bridge at night or early morning.

Benjamin S — Google review

The bridge is beautiful, but the views from the above are something else. Very busy and lively place with lots of things to see around. I recommend visiting at night too, it's more relaxing and less hot.

Basilica

Sights & Landmarks

The Basilica di San Marco is a spectacular cathedral located in the heart of Venice which is noted for its intricate mosaics and gilded interiors. It does not charge visitors for entry, but does have fees associated with accessing some of its attractions such as the St Mark's Museum, the Treasury and Pala d'Oro. This iconic building is a must-see on any visit to Venice.

Wow, what a place to visit. Highly recommended. The church/cathedral/basilica is absolutely beautiful. It‘s adorned with riches of gold, precious stones, mosaics, art work and sculptures that will astound you. It has to be on your list of things to see whilst in Venice. A tip is to get a skip the line guided tour, we did and we had no waiting at all and a superb guide that brought what we were seeing alive.

Chris A — Google review

Saint Mark's Basilica is an absolute masterpiece and a must-visit in Venice! The exterior is stunning with its intricate mosaics and beautiful domes, while the interior is even more breathtaking, adorned with golden mosaics, detailed artwork, and a majestic altar. The atmosphere inside is truly awe-inspiring, reflecting the rich history and artistry of Venice. Be sure to visit the museum upstairs for a closer look at the mosaics and a fantastic view of St. Mark's Square from the balcony. It's wise to book tickets in advance or arrive early to avoid long lines, but it's well worth the wait. Highly recommended!

Khandakar M — Google review

The golden mosaics on the ceiling inside are truly a sight to behold and adds to its grandiosity. Beware! Book your tickets in advance. There is a very long line. And be aware of the dress code. Recommend getting the full experience where you get to climb up and see the horses.

Ray ( — Google review

Lovely experience here with our guided tour. Now MEN and WOMEN need to have a dress code covering shoulders and knees.Lots of history in this place and in general an engineering marvel ❤️Would recommend to buy the skip the line tickets during busy periods.Visit early in the morning to beat the crowds!! Also careful of pickpocketers around this area 🫣

Honza V — Google review

Saint Mark's basilica is one of the basilicas at Venice. However this is the main basilica and one of the major tourist sites on the island. This place is very popular and has become sort of like a museum. There's an entrance charge of 3 euro but the queue is always long. Currently the facade is being repaired.

Richard F — Google review

The Doge's Palace in Venice is a breathtaking masterpiece of Gothic architecture and a must-see for any visitor. Its stunning exterior, adorned with intricate details, sets the stage for the rich history and art housed within. Inside, the grand halls and chambers, filled with magnificent frescoes and opulent decor, tell the story of Venice's powerful past. The palace's blend of political and artistic heritage, along with the captivating Bridge of Sighs, offers an unforgettable glimpse into the city's storied legacy.

Anna D — Google review

We bought our tickets in advance on the website. When we arrived at the venue at the appointed time, we were told that we were not holding tickets, but a voucher and that we had to go and change our vouchers for tickets. We didn't know where to go and there was a bit of flooding in the square. Not without adventure we found an office where we could get our tickets and went back to the basilica entrance. And there I was told that my dress (covered shoulders, sleeves, one palm above the knee) did not fit and I would not be allowed into the basilica. Okay. We bought a shawl from a vendor (10 euros) and I tied it around my waist. The basilica is small inside. I guess we must have been unlucky with the lighting as I didn't find anything outstanding about the interior. Only its age was impressive. The terraza was very disappointing. Piazza San Marco is not the most outstanding place to see from up high, and the terrace itself is nothing amazing either. The basilica is certainly worth a visit, but I expected more inside.

Ira_ I — Google review

Outstanding basilica. It is really impressive how the inside is literally covered in gold. Buy tickets online to skip the line. There is also a museum, but you have to buy another ticket. It has some nice items, but I would say the best is that it allows you to go to the upper floor, where you can enjoy a different view of the basilica, and also of Piazza San Marco.

Juan G — Google review

Went here on a group tour. Place has been made completely wheelchair accessible as is entire Venice. The big dome is quite an engineering marvel itself, and colors of building are quite soothing. It was really crowded for an afternoon, but crowd management was very good.

Ritesh A — Google review

The Museum upstairs (additional fee applies) is a must visit.Housing the 4 majestic bronze horses with such great historic story behind them.Visit also the 4 replica horse outside the terrace and have a good view looking out to the Piazza San Marco.

Chee L — Google review

Very beautiful church. Looks a mix of Middle East and Western architecture given Venice’s role in the trade route.Check hours of operation before going as the church closed in afternoon around lunch. There was a line when we went even with the €3 entry, but moved fast and we were in in half hour.

Shruti S — Google review

Saint Mark's Basilica is truly a marvel of art, history, and architecture. As one of Venice’s most renowned landmarks, it far exceeded my expectations. The intricate mosaics, gold details, and Byzantine architecture make the basilica nothing short of breathtaking. Each part of the building tells a story, from the stunning domes to the ornate façade.

Wisanu T — Google review

St. Mark's basilica in Venice in high season is as crowded as rest of Venice but still this is definitely a must-see place! The cathedral's stunning architecture, with its grand domes and intricate mosaics, showcases the rich history and culture of Venice. As you stand in St. Mark's Square, the towering bell tower and elegant facade captivate you. The lively atmosphere, with tourists and pigeons all around, adds to the charm of this iconic place.

Piotr A — Google review

An amazing place to look around, please be aware 3 euro entry, then extra cost to visit each area, museum of the horses 🐎 where the balcony is for example.Afternoon is better as it's less crowded than the morning. Remember to LOOK UP...the golden mosaic is incredible 😲

Sean M — Google review

Reserved and timed entry tics are needed to get in here. Once inside, there are other exhibits to see with a small purchase for each. The Treasury, the Golden Alter piece and the Museum. Make sure to look below you, as you wander, the floors are stunning in themselves. The tile work throughout is amazingly detailed. Make sure to walk outside and you'll be rewarded with fantastic views of the plaza. A must stop while in Venice and about an hour of your time minimum.

Richard W — Google review

An incredibly beautiful and historic building, and a must visit to all travelling to Venice. With very helpful and kind staff and an incredibly reasonable entrance fee. ❤️❤️❤️Just be mindful that all visitors must dress appropriately when entering the site, but staff are more than willing to offer help and guidance on this. ❤️❤️❤️ xxxx

Ben J — Google review

Beautiful and intricate paintings can be found on the structure, but it was a pity that it was undergoing construction works while we visited. It's situated in the central plaza which is a lively place, and adds character to the surroundings. Especially beautiful around sunset time, where the basilica and surrounding buildings look stunning in the evening light.

Jonathan C — Google review

We decided for a guided tour which gets you to the front of the queue which can be considerable. We were all given earphones so there was no missing what the guide was saying. The guide was very knowledgeable and funny. The basilica is breathtaking and the view from the terrace is wonderful. Definitely a must when in Venice.

Mike T — Google review

Amazing from entering to exiting the beautiful building. Though smaller than other major basillicas in Italy, uniquely different and much better presented. I would advise to buy the full tour and skip the line tickets in advance, the regular line to enter is long and exposed to the weather.

Rick K — Google review

St Mark's Basilica a very baroque ornate church right in centre of all the major action in Venice, it has a large % of inner walls in gold paint so already the wow factor is there. Fresco paintings adorn the dome ceilings with statues & symbols of signified religious faith, all the scale, the detail, the beauty it is a must see. Follow people like me as we make the effort from our heart to advise others of amazing places around the world

Rob N — Google review

Beautiful from the outside (apart from the renovation 😔) but the inside was a bit underwhelming to me to be honest. It's dark and honestly I expected something better especially that it's not free. When it comes to tickets I recommend waiting in queue if there's not that much people because I only had to wait 5 minutes and its way cheaper than buying online.
